Cyclists

Lets put bicycles through the EuroNCAP tests as well while we're at it.

Face/Palm

hysterical...please leave thread if you've nothing to contribute.

Let's put cyclists through the EuroNCAP tests too!

40mph into a wall! Boosh!
Lol

Think about this........a cyclist riding like a weapon, creams into the side of your nice, new car and puts a scratch down it thats going to cost £400 to put right. Pretty sure most of you would be livid. How would you be recompensed for that?

Andyocuk - what about people that run on the road? Tax? Insurance? I'm guessing you're not the type to excercise, but would be interested to hear anyway. People on foot damage cars too.

Agreed on some points. They should certainly have some form of insurance and at least be forced to take a cycling proficiency test. Travelling side by side, while not illegal does show a lack of thought and respect for other road users.

I cycle to college and try to stick to all the rules of the road including all red lights. I also have insurance, mainly because of the chance of someone stealing my bike or one of it's accessories. I don't pay tax because my bike doesn't have an engine that produces CO2..

I can't really comment on cyclists around here because they are a rare breed, but I have to say most car drivers give me plenty of space and seem to wait patiently for a safe place to overtake. Sometimes get the odd moron such as a tractor who almost knocked me into a ditch when I had right of way, but he probably didn't see me because he wasn't paying attention.:p

I don't ride a bike (LOL BIKES!) but even I think the thought of taxing cyclists is stupid.

You should slap yourself.

It's unlikely that someone will 'run' into a car though now is it unless they left their white stick and guide dog at home.

Not the type to excercise? How did you arrive at that conclusion? Ran for staffordshire T&F and XC, played county hockey and badminton, taught OE for 7 years, Have my mountain leader qualification, my Padi divers, 5* Level 4 Kayak instructor, ropes course director and have done two seasons whitewater raft guiding in the french alps. Hope thats interesting enough for you.

"People on foot damage cars too".....?? People on foot are NOT road users...I thought that to be painfully obvious!

Go play somewhere else if all you're going to do is fire competely unfounded insults matey.;)

A cyclist once rode into the side of my car and later refused to admit any liability (I was parked in a bay at the time and still sitting in it!) so I took her to a small claims court. She settled in full a few days before the hearing :)

Why a day off work to wait for Autoglass?

They can fix your windscreen anywhere I thought?

At the time, I had my 9 month old daughter in the car.....whole lot of stuff to sort out. The windscreen was totalled and car undrivable as the glass was completely crazed over. I called the police and did the breath test and the lad on the bike went to hosopital via ambulance. (Just cuts and bruises) Couldn't believe the breath test....8:30am with a baby in the car.... By the time I got the nipper and the car to my mother & father's in Stoke, called Autoglass etc, it was 11am. I work in telford so hardly worth the trip.

I frequently break the laws of the road when cycling to uni everyday. Most of the time its to avoid being hit my drivers that aren't obeying them themselves.

Motorists seem to get quite angry when you overtake them or pip them at the lights. I hate car horns

Oh look, it's the weekly 'I hate cyclists' thread.

Good branch telford and stoke, used to work for em :o

Yeah, the Stoke branch were pretty quick.....the windscreen was all done by 3pm. Just wasn't worth the drive back to telford for half a day or less by the time I'd sorted thr daughter, the car, autoglass and the police :D
