thought it would good to share it with you guys just so you can see it from a cyclists point of view too, and hopefully this will help us understand each other?

I don't want to start a war here but we all got to share the road so lets make the best out of that experience! eh? ;)

I wondered what was your opinion as a driver about the points raised in that article? have you ever though about it?

I've had drivers trying to ram me off the road, shouting at me to ride in the middle and so on.

As a driver/pedestrian I was already aware of those rules, but it was a good article regardless.

Just becasue it's legal, doesn't mean you should. I am a cyclist and I also ride horses too. It's all about reading the road on all counts for all users.
 
As a daily commuter on my bicycle from Ealing to the city, the vast majority of drivers get it and understand why I move into the centre, often because of parked cars, or the gutter is not safe (which is what you would expect as any driver, cyclist or any road user should be reading the road up ahead anyway).

To me I think the biggest danger on my commute are actually pedestrians, and sometimes other cyclists.

I've had a guy overtake me inches away from my bars, cut me off, block my way, open the window and tell me to get off the "road" because I don't pay ROAD(lol) tax, ride in the middle of the road and that I should sit in a cycle lane - there was no cycle lane on that particular road! then he speeds off over RED light.
 
As i live in a rural area i don't tend to see them riding in the middle of the road but i can understand when they do so. You would feel safer 'taking command' of the lane especially when coming up to an island as the last thing you'd want as a cyclist is to be squeezed by a car.

I would just feel far too vunerable as a rural road cyclist, i overtook 2 on the way into work today that happened to be on straight fairly well sighted sections of a NSL A road. I would feel very scared going round any kind of corner or crests in the road going a good 45mph slower than everything else around me with no protection what so ever :(

My commute now is all on traffic heavy roads now, so the only look I get from motorists is annoyance when I overtake them, or zip through traffic calming obstacles at full pace when they have to slow down. :p
 
As a recent member of the "cycle to work" group (4 miles) I tend to cycle like I drive a car, by which I mean I think everyone is out to kill me :D so I cycle extremely carefully and expect cars to pass close by or react suddenly, pedestrians to walk out or other bikers to annoy car users and raise my awareness accordingly. I've not had a situation where my prior awareness hasn't managed to prevent a problem, so far anyway.

Those idiots from the video are the first to cry that it's car users faults if something happens to them... Didn't really understand the point of filming people on paths? is it some weird fetish he has?

Dear Cyclist,

No bother at all.

You're actually far from the biggest annoyance on the road (that would be the legions of people who think every speed limit sign means "Do 49").

The only time cyclists are even vaguely annoying for me is when there's a group of them obviously out for a jolly at rush hour on rural roads.

That's a tad inconsiderate.
 
A cyclist tried to cut me off on a roundabout the other day, that was interesting. I'm sure it would have worked well for him.. luckily that roundabout has about 1.5m "spare" tarmac he could ride on.
