Cyprus for a family holiday?

We're getting closer to our jetting off date. Short listed a few places so far for days out / places to see, anyone recommend anymore? Thanks

Pafos Aquarium
Pafos Bird Park
Aphrodite Waterpark
Kissonerga Bay

My mother's from near Larnaca, so we mostly go out around there, see the relatives etc. But there are a lot of ancient sites between there and Paphos: rocks of Aphrodite, Kourion, some beautiful views.

Northern Cyprus is a physically beautiful place, esp Kyrenia, but much poorer than the south. Protaras is nice, but I find Ayia Napa too touristy and way too overdeveloped.

Been going there every year of my life, most relaxing place in the world. Well, for me anyway! I'm half way to being a local...

My parents are from Kyrenia. They moved over here before the invasion. I might be going back again this October to see the village.

I go there every year but used to go several times a year, it is another home for me though and have family homes there. :) I spend time on both sides of the island although my background is from the Greek side, I love Cyprus as a whole, the whole CYpriot experience. It is a place to disappear to and escape from the worl. It is a VERY relaxing place. :)

We had an absolutely fantastic time over there. It's a great country, and the people are so laid-back and friendly. We went on a Land-Rover safari into the trudos mouintains and it was just supurb, the driver was great, very personal and relaxed. He did some off-roading which was loads of fun, and the views were simply breathtaking. It wasn't cheap, but worth every penny.

Talking of money it is quite expensive over there, but that wasn't really an issue as we went all-inclusive.

All in all highly recommended, I only wish we had gone for a fortnight rather than just a week.

Thanks Drexel. Off at the weekend for two weeks and just trying to get any last minute titbits i can. We're budgeting around 50 - 100 euros per day between us, 2 adults + 2 kids.

I miss the Cypriot Pound :(

With the £ being so pooor against the € it's not surprising you're all finding it expensive. Still I'm fortunate enough to not have to worry about accomodation over there, and know all the best places to buy food ;)

I'm glad you had fun though Drex :) Makes me happy seeing people enjoy themselves in places I love and that I associate with home.

but the cyprus pound was more expensive than the euro and the GBP if memory serves me right

Anyone recommend anwhere the locals go in Protaras?

place called paralimini thats were the locals live there's a few shops and couple of nice churches there its about 5 mins on the bus were you staying in prot?

We are great friends with a cypriot couple and their kids the only thing they said was that last year and again this year it's blistering hot. Last year was 40°C + and even with airco it was uncomfortable.

They sleep from 12-4 and stay up late they said to us if we went with our son we'd pretty much have to live like that and it's hard to get your kids used to that lifestyle for only a week.

I'm still dying to go with them though as their parents came over and they are the friendliest most sharing people I've met. Only annoyance is fighting to see who pays everytime we go out. (because we both want to do it and if we let em they'd pay everytime. ) :D

That lifestyle is so so much better than what we have in the UK. I love it, I still can't get used to the long days we do here.
