I sold my HIfi in the 90's....

I got my first one two years ago and think it gives the highest quality sound. Forget smartphones, headphones and other things which bring nothing but compromises...

February 11 is set to be the Digital Radio Day 2021

"The day will begin with a discussion on the digital transition of radio media with Francis Goffin (President of maRadio.be), Benedicte Linard (Minister of Media) and Karim Ibourki (President of the CSA in Belgium). This will be followed by a large focus on the development of DAB coverage in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, on the listening channels of digital radio, on the evolution of audio through digital, on the marketing of digital radio, on the promotion and marketing of digital radio in 2021 with Eric Adelbrecht (Administrator-Delegate maRadio.be) or on the extinction of FM, the highlighting of two experiences in Norway and Switzerland.

During the morning, several professionals will also speak: Francis Goffin (President of EDRA), Patrick Hannon (President of WorldDAB), Michael Hill (Managing Director of UK Radioplayer) and Yann Legarson (CEO of Radioplayer France). Finally, the results of the study on the consumption and perception of DAB in Belgium will also be revealed and analysed.
To attend this Digital Radio Day, you must register HERE."

I don't know if it will be in English or French, though.

What Hi-Fi would that be, exactly?

I'm wondering because I'm willing to bet my main listening equipment (Audeze LCD-2 + Woo Audio Fireflies) is an order of magnitude above your Hi-Fi setup despite the fact the LCD-2's are headphones. I'm also willing to bet my day to day speaker setup (Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 + Nad C316BEE) is superior.

I'm not entirely convinced you know what good quality sound is, given you seem overjoyed at low quality DAB + streams and argue the value of low bitrate content regularly.

You're wrong.

Despite my equipment I'm far from an audio snob, and while I'm sure your "Hi-Fi" is a decent piece of kit, it wont come even remotely close to being the "highest quality sound" as you've put it.

I think some questions might have been answered in knowing where your bar sits.

OMG...... just ban this guy please lol .My headphones alone are more expensive ( by some margin ) . Your using a piece of junk. I will add in regards your so called amazing dab bs argument. It’s an ok midi system at best.

The Denon DM41 will beat that on pure sound value. But as this is based on dab.... even that is rubbish.

The Ruark R2 , which has DAB+ and is best in class at under £600, is rubbish at dab.

Yeah, the pole vault for 6 year olds :D:p:cool: lol

Don’t get me wrong.... I’ve owned ( and still do ) , own hifi equipment that are a standalone use product at the £300 price point. But common sense says you get MUCH better at higher cost.

The problem with DAB is , no matter how much money you throw at it , in the UK ( and this is a uk forum ) , DAB is a turd.

There's a point in which you're going to hit diminishing returns for both headphone and speaker based setups, but in terms of a £200-300 (entry level) hi-fi system such as the OP has I suspect you can get much better for roughly the same cost. My speaker setup is secondary to my headphone, I only really bought it for when friends and family would come over for a few beers. Diamond 10.1's + a NAD AMP supplying 50w per channel is going to crap on an all in one Hi-Fi setup such as the OP's, said speaker setup cost me £200 some years ago -- added benefit as I run all from my HTPC I have easy access to Internet Radio!

I won't even go into my headphones, which are apparently worse than his Hi-Fi.

I do miss having a proper stereo setup. It’s just I’ve had to go down the headphone setup. I don’t drive so my hifi rack is my main music source. Tv is another kettle of fish lol. But that’s still headphone based.

I feel you.

I use my headphones for most things, I live in an apartment and even if I had the money to buy a comparable speaker setup I couldn't due to the nature of where I live. I'm a big fan of the HD800's by the way, always loved Sennheiser -- I've still got my HD650's and Bottlehead Crack in storage. The HD800's I very much enjoyed, the 800S more so and less so depending on what I was doing. For me I just found end game with the LCD-2's, I'll never buy anything outside of planar magnetic headphones ever again. Not that I expect to move on anytime soon, I get the bite from time to time but I reign myself in.

Already got my betamax set to record.

I also bet my HDMI cable is better than yours.

Off course it's a turd, always has been and always will be.
You only have to look at any of the high end hi-fi manufacturers tuners to know that. Not one of them sells a DAB tuner but all of them sell FM tuners. There is a small exception with Arcam they sell an FM/DAB tuner, but i wouldn't put Arcam in the high end to start with.

You are derailing the thread. You have to be banned from it.
How arrogant should you to advocate to ban the owner of the thread. If you don't like it, just leave it.

Lol... your claiming your DAB setup is amazing.... have refuted EVERY argument against you , and then say what your system is..... Do you realise how pathetic you sound ???:rolleyes::rolleyes:

How you’ve managed to survive a crazy nearly 9000 posts in 4 years is beyond me  and I’ve been on here 17 years. You talk a lot of poo lol.

RESPECT HIS SMARTESTNESS. Also calling you all trolls when he's lost a discussion is textbook 4k8kw10 and it's still just as beautiful today as ever. He's the clown who keeps on giving!

Enough said.

Yep.
Anyone that starts and continues a thread this long, continually arguing from a standpoint of sound quality, has to be doing so from at least an idea of what good sound sounds like.
For that same person to have lost the entire argument and then announce it was based on the listening experience of a £300 piece of tat, beggers belief.
@4K8KW10 you have made yourself look a complete idiot. You carry on enjoying your "highest quality sound." but don't lecture others from a position of ignorance.
