Dalglish resigned/sacked?

Just read this:

" the club will create a "committee" which will make decisions on the running of the football side, including transfers"

Cant we just let the managers make the decisions please. How can you blame a manager for poor signings if 30 people are involved.

That's how they got him, they said they wouldn't use a director of football, they never agreed not to use Directors though :D

That's American businessmen for you I guess, the way they probably see it is they don't want to blow another £35m on a player worth about £10m. :p

Why are people getting so caught up in this technical board or whatever you want to call it and transfers? For a start transfers are only one aspect of this structure but most importantly, it's always been made perfectly clear that the manager has the final say on all transfers. Do you think it will be that different from most other clubs? Clubs are scouting so many players these days that manager most likely only gets involved at the final stages of any deal anyway.

The club want to put in place a structure where by if and when the manager does leave, the club can still continue working in the same way with the next manager. Giving a manager total control of all aspects of the club is fine providing they're there for a long time (10+ years), when they're not it becomes a problem because you're having to rip everything up and start again with every new manager.

Totally agree with the above

Not sure if I agree with "Director of Football" or whatever, in theory it should work, but Im not sure it does in this country. It appears to work in other countries, and maybe just over here its still a relatively new concept (I dont recall it being mentioned before in an EPL team hmmm before 'Arry was manager of Pompey however long ago that was)

For example I think its Perez at Real (is his official title "President"), he appears on one level to do the same as David Gill at Utd, but also (from press speculation over the years) appears to be more active in actually choosing the players - no matter who is the Real manager at the time. Now maybe this is just the press doing what they do best (stirring ****), or maybe this is just Perez being himself

To my mind, the business end of clubs (ie what board of Directors/ Presidents do) should be kept completely seperate from the game side of things. Obviously the President /Board has the final say on what is available for transfers / wages, but its the Manager and his team that should be directly responsible for how that money is actually spent

Imo this is why a new manager bringing two or three "junior" people with him shouldnt be a problem (in one way its to be expected, and will help the club) to aide with 1st team, but this doesnt touch (to begin with) the academy or more business aspects of the club. The longer a manager stays at the club, his sphere of operation will naturally grow as well

Finally got round to seeing Rodger's interview - seemed pretty confident and at least he is coming from a pedigree of attractive football. Despite all the big names being thrown around I'd be cautiously optimistic with the appointment, remains to be seen how he'll cope with the pressure - just a shame that they wasted all that transfer cash last summer really :p

There were a few before that in the 90s... McMenamie (sp) at Saints, Coppell at Palace (might not have been in the Prem can't remember), Pleat at Spurs etc.

these club presidents in Spain are elected by the members of the club, so player signings are very politically motivated e.g. Perez promised the fans Figo

Need to get on the slimfast mate haha

Didn't realise weight affected how long your legs are :p

Also never been in it Rotty, only Kop, corners of the main and lower AR, all an absolute joke. Also the stewarding near the away fans is appalling.

Ok fair enough, now you mention it I think I recall Pleat but the other two are certainly new to me :)

Ok thats a good point in it being a "political" position, but its also still someone else apart from the manager picking the transfers - and if done enough the tactics /positioning of those players. This should be wholly down to the Manager imo , and not anyone else

I like Rodgers, he seems a genuine bloke & I wish him luck.
I hope the owners give him time to be successful, they need to be realistic about what they can achieve short term and not listen to what the fans think they can. The only pressure on a Liverpool manager nowadays comes from the fans as no-one else expects them to do well.
They're far from a top 4 side at the moment & if they want to be they either need bags of cash or shrewd purchases + patience to become one, the latter is more likely their only route.

the upper centenary is fine but the Kop seats are really cramped

Kop seats are second best for room after Main Stand in my opinion. That said, where my ST is we all stand anyway. Then again, I am not bothering with it again this year. Sunday games and Tuesday nights at home in the middle of winter just don't appeal any more.

Lower centenary is a joke for legroom though. And in certain rows you get soaked when it rains

As for the Rodgers appointment; just hope he gets enough time. We are an impatient bunch at Liverpool...

the reason the UC are good is because it is quite steep so your legs are vertical like on a dining chair, makes it much better

Never sat in the uc, looks a bit high up for me too! Can't see me going back until we start playing football worth watching.

Hope Rodgers brings his swansea style with him. Incidentally did you get your st's back?

Wait, you have a ST and don't go?

Yeah. Didn't go this year and not going next year either. Kind of fallen out of love with football; it's a horrible commercial money mess now and not the game I grew up with. The final straw was seeing them having 'pasta meal deals' for sale in the Kop snack bars.

If we start playing attractive football again and all my mates start going again then I will get it back. Until then I would rather have the money in my pocket and pay for a flight to Vegas with it :)

I'm quite happy with the Rodgers appointment I think.

He's clearly taking things seriously, and I like the fact that he isn't saying OMG WE ARE GOING TO WIN THE LEAGUE LAWLZ

PLEASE PLEASE give him time. I'll be interested to see where he starts his transfer action. IMO we desperately need another Alonso. Even though he could sometimes be a sod and do his own thing, I think we are missing a flair player in midfield to support our forwards. That, and we desperately still need some decent wingers. God, I feel like I've been saying that for years.... Maybe we can sign Adam Johnson from Man City?
