I just got the Drake Sword off the red Dragon.

Using a bow and about 20 arrows (though I have a high dex of 18) shooting his tail from the right hand side under the bridge.

It's a very power 200 str sword but I've just found out I can't use it one handed as my strength is below 16!!

I'm making sure my pyro has high strenght, however, last night, I got a nice Schmitar (what ever it's called) sword from one of the chests in the starting area, my strenght was high enough, but my pyro couldn't use it?

What other pre requisites are needed?

Not sure mate. Do weapons have dex prerequisites too maybe? I know my wanderer started with a schimitar and I had high dex.

I've had managed to play a few hours today, it's been slow going but I've made progress.

I've beat the boar after several attempts by oneshot backstabbing him in the back. I was rewarded with the boar helmet which is very nice but does make me a little slow. I also went back and killed the black knight. I've died several times but I've always got back to my corpse as well which I suppose is pretty good.

So I'm now on to the undead parish and it's tough going, I need a break.
 
What are peoples fav chars?

Mine so far from my small amount of play last night has to be the Pyro, love how quick he is on his feat combined with the deadly blow of his axe :)

2 steps. First you want the dragon to kill all the skellies on the bridge to clear the way as arrows can slow you down and that's not good. So run onto the bridge to initiate the dragon attack and run back to hide from it.

Second after they're all gone. Leg it along the right to the middle and get down the stairs before you're crispy.

That's how I did it.

I won't spoil the next bit just yet.
 
Good God the Gargoyles are hard. I managed to get the first one down to half health and then all of a sudden the second one appeared.

I'm finding this game really hard and I platinum'd Demon's Souls!

Aye. They took me about 6 goes. If it's any consolation if you can kill the first (try hitting it's tail, it seems vulnerable there and if you slice it off you get an axe) the second was pretty easy in comparison.

I'm not sure where to go or what to do next now though. Any ideas?

Almost beat the first guy before the second appeared. His tail is proving to be a bit troubling to cut off with a halberd.

[edit] Okay, you can chop the tail off in two hits actually.

Can anyone tell me the best way to defeat the mini boss after you meet Blacksmith Andrei in the Undead Parish. I'm Knight class with the Drake sword, I've got him down to 50% best attempt.
 
What a difference...

My original character, a thief, is now level 23 and still struggling big time due to me messing up with humanity and thus only having 5 flasks at the undead berg fire, started a pyromancer this morning who at level 13 is already ahead of the thief and under a quarter of the playtime.

I re rolled as well into a mage :)

Loving it! Got all the goodies so far, not rang any bells yet, just leveling up until I can pretty much 1 hit everything.

So far, those stone knights in the forest, they are pretty easy for me!

Going for a knight/mage build, so I got elite armor on with the dragon sword drop, but at the same time, soul arrows for the groups of mobs I would rather pick off from a distance :)
 
Anyone know where I can upgrade my soul arrows?

Seems I have to visit a chap in the ruins below the first starting area, he is apparently locked away in a tower?

As you say take the stairs down right by the starting bonfire (after the crow drops you) keep going down and you'll find a merchant that sells spell upgrades, also a nice place to visit at the start of the game if you want to pick up the soul arrow spell for classes that don't start with it.

Beat the Gargoyles... Was a walk in the park at level 30, with elite knight armor, greater soul arrows and the drake sword lol

However, I feel I have ballsed up... The smithy (grey haired chap) has the ember you get from killing the boss in the forest, he asked, so I gave... Doesn't seem I got anything in return?

Okay, so I finally beat the bell gargoyles. I ended up upgrading my Halberd to +3 and I managed to burst him down just after his bro joined him.

So now we're all at the same point, I was level 19 Wanderer btw when I beat the gargoyles, where do we go now?

I'm thinking of trying to get hadens? (spelling) ring I've read about off the (fat man?) then do I go sewers or gardens?
