Dark Souls gameplay discussion - spoilers ahoy!

So now we're all at the same point, I was level 19 Wanderer btw when I beat the gargoyles, where do we go now?

I'm thinking of trying to get hadens? (spelling) ring I've read about off the (fat man?) then do I go sewers or gardens?

I tried the gardens but the boss owned me. I think you can only beat it with ranged attacks (I have none). I'm trying to work out where to go now as well.

I tackled the gardens before the gargoyles... I have been farming tons, want to make sure I don't die too easily, and to be honest, those stone knights in the forest go down in 4 hits from me now! Fun farming them :)

Found the best tactic for the stone knights is to raise your guard only as they attack, that way your stam doesn't run out and recharges quicker! Also, when they debuff your movement, keep your distance as much as possible, only lasts about 30 seconds, but you go no way of rolling out if you have the debuff on.

As for the boss in the gardens, the moth, dead easy, if you are a caster or any good with a bow. I found just spamming greather soul arrow took it down in about 11 hits. If you are pure melee, no bow, you are kinda screwed. The only chance you have to hit is when the moth lands on the bridge for a few seconds, you can get in one flurry of attacks. No more. As soon as it starts to glow, roll out of there as thats its explosive attack.

As for where to go once you have done both the forest and the gargoyles (nevermind the glowing door a the entrance to the forest, come back to that much later apparantly). Head back to the merchant that first sold the short bow, in the undead burge. Buy a residence key from him, costs 1000 souls.

Once you have that, head to the wall where you fought that black troll thing, remember the locked door before you peg it for the dragon? (it's one of the 2 tower doors). Unlock that (you will have the key), now welcome to the area I am now in... I would say grind up but I am lvl 31 an one hitting everything, however they still hurt!

Oh, once you climb down that ladder, you can either go up some steps or down to a burning street. Go up the steps, open a metal gate, opens up a shortcut from the bonfire below the dragon. The shortcut is in the room across the bright from the bonfire (bridge where 2 gits throw fire bombs at you).

Enjoy lads :)

Cheers pal, I found out where to go in the end. You're right, after the first proper boss, the locked door just before the red dragon.

I think I just saved a guy who will teach me some magic (well, i hope he does), hopefully that'll drop the big butterfly thing.

[edit] okay, so capra demon was stupidly easy.

If you head below the main bon fire (the path is just to the left of the guy in the chain mail armor if you are facing him), go down the lift, go into the open area. It's full of mad hollow men, they wont attack but you can kill them all and get some easy souls whilst you are down there. Anyway, Go as far right as you can, you will find a brick stair case that leads to nowhere (crumbled away at the end), there is a set of bars with a dude in it. He is a smithy, he sells a staff, soul arrows and greater soul arrows :)

2400 souls for both the staff and the arrows.

4000 for greater soul arrows.

As for he guy you saved, yes, he will appear back at the main bon fire, he sells some really good spells :)

How on earth did you manage to kill Capra Demon? I am struggling! Corners me the second I go through the white wall!

EDIT: Behind the place where you fight him is a shortcut... Grab it :) Very close to home, beware of the thief ambush.

Thanks for that, I'm in the place after the sewer area (murky depressing area)

Here's my strategy for Capra demon (i'll leave a space in case you don't want it)

Kill the dogs first, then keep your shield up. You can block every attack Capra demon does. After he's finished his attacks he will pause momentarily - attack him at this point.

He'll go down easy enough

Yay, killed him last night, you are right, dead easy. I kept trying to roll as soon as I got in which kept getting me killed, stuck my shield up instead and just walked past...

Killed the dogs then circled him, waiting for an opening and took my stabby mc stab stabs.

I am in the same area you are now, just found the bon fire at the end of the hall after the goo on the ceiling. Had to back track to get it. Beward of the butcher, he is one grumpy bugger.

Also, the guy in the barrel to save, dont do what I did and attack the barrel thinking it will smash it and he will be free lol... Had to kill him :(

think there's more areas after that, 3 or 4? other small areas and i think you can go back to the start asylum to kill that boss's black phantom soul too.

lots of ppl saying only get the bottomless chest from the merchant in the sewers, crystal weapons/armour not worth the souls. also kill that npc dude in gold armor near the lady behind the bars at firelink shrine, apparently he kills her if you don't. not sure wether to end him or not hmmm.

I'd suggest leaving him to kill her, he will only drop a ring atm but after he kills her and disappears a little further on into the game you get to hunt him down and kill him and take his gold armour, plus you can then revive the woman anyway.

Great fun once you get into a rythm, been grinding a little in the gardens, the statues are easy compared to their 300 souls a pop reward. Do hate the little plants though - damn their cheap grab attack!

Whats best to put points into as melee? Got str/vit/endurance going on atm and working ok.

oooh just noticed, everytime i clear undead berg it dishes out a humanity, just came down the steps and my tally went up, or maybe it auto picked up and used from a beastie near the stairs?

edit; nope looks like it was random drop

So I keep shooting the dragons tail from under the bridge and nothing ever happens even after 10+ arrows :(

Also how far after the sewer bit with the 3 rats under the bridge is the short cut back to the bonfire near the start of undead borg?

took me 17 arrows.

Took me about 20 large arrows with a short bow... My dex was 18 at the time.

Anyway, in regards of todays play, I haven't touched it, I just can't be bothered with the area I'm currently in (at the bonfire around the corner from the huge rat boss...).

I just have no will to navigate my way through the labrinth of tunnels as I like to explore. The only thing putting me off is those ****** rats!!! There poison really gets me, if they hit me 3 times, that's it, I'm done. And if I do get poisoned I only have the option to go back to bonfire, rest and try again otherwise I waste all of my potions :(

Not even to mention the fact that soon I will come up close to those famous toads that half your life if they breathe on you! And the debuff stacks!!!

As soon as I am clear from this area, I am happy... Please tell me there are no decent treasures around so I can just blitz the area without the need to explore.

hey guys, how do i get to the bonfire underneath the dragon, i know the one where you go up the ladder then your below the dragon but from there, after the area where you shoot the dragon tail, past the 3 rats and up the ladder once you go out to the left there is a visable bonfire to through a small gate but i cant get to it.

also further on where the big gate is i opened it but then i noticed one of the swordsman used the switch to close it again, quite nice AI there imo, pain in the ass for removing a possible shortcut though

You should go back to where the butcher guy is cutting the meat, behind him is a passage that you can drop down that puts you above the rat and you can snipe it from there in safety, also round the other side up there is the Spider Shield, gives you high poison resist.
