Dark Soul's: Prepare to Die Edition (PC)

Well you can get retail with all the extras for £24. I understand people not wanting to pay this but for me it was always going to happen for this game no matter what. Long as it played on par with its console counterpart I was happy. The res/texture mods are just a bonus for me. Same as people buy fifa each year for the same old game, can't really moan at them as they enjoy the franchise.

That's exactly what I've been saying since I made the topic, so long as it matches the console experience then it is worth the compromise of playing on a low end port. If we wanted to be console scrubs we'd own consoles, but it's only a one off and its a worthy one off.

Will be buying this at some point, might show some self control though and wait a few weeks, got way too many games backlogged.

might.

Or you own all 4 platforms and not limit yourself :p

Why should you pay more for the same experience? It's madness.
Although, from everything I've heard, frame rate is at least consistent, in brightown included, that's a plus.

So even if you never have played the game and like rpg games this isn't worth it for £24 right now?

If you've never played it before then god yes, but it isn't like any other RPG game besides its predecessor, as it is a challenge.

Being a big RPG fan myself, there is one thing that genre definitely lacks; difficulty. :p

So far I have seen no slow downs. But not at blight yet ;)

If you chose the key you can run straight down there from the main hub. Let us know what you find or anyone else for that matter. I'm holding out on this partly for the technical problems in the console version but also to see what the online community looks like. The whole point of this is to interact with players online if few people are playing then may as well stick with the ps3

Omaeka/Martini is the world big and is the loot system good? looks like a decent game to me but wondering how large the game is.:p

The world isn't that large if you compare it to Skyrim, but on the other hand, the game feels very vast. It's basically a very large castle, but with an underworld and other areas too. It'd take quite a while to get from one end to the other.

The loot system is quite interesting. No items are scaled (sorry for comparing to SKyrim again) so there are two types of drops:

- random drops from enemies
- specific loot from corpses / chests

Yeah in a way, the world is kind of Metroidvania-ish, where you go from area to area.

And I don't know why some people are complaining about the retail price of this. I mean really, £24? The retail package gets you extra stuff and the game itself already comes packed with all the new content, unlike the console versions which will be DLC later on. The people who buy this game for £29.99 on Steam would be the silly ones.

It has the best world I've seen and its beautifully integrated and connected. There's a little bit of backtracking, though. Loot is okay, a lot of pre-determined places to find specific gear and whatnot, with nice random drops that are usually crafting materials or healing/thrown items, occasional weapon or ammo. If your a DS virgin, then £24 for the full game + improvements + new content is an amazing way to pop your cherry. ;)

The retail at 24 is acceptable, more than with the extra content.
The DD at 29.99 on Steam though? You got it, it's silly.
