Dashcams!

I have a nextbase 622GW which has been great, the battery died meaning everytime I shut the van down the time reset which was a pain when and if I ever needed the footage, decided to buy a battery of ebay and after a bit of faffing around managed to solder it in, why oh why not just put a plug on it, issue is now the magnetic mount no longer works....... so have to plug the power directly into the camera which means I cant quite get it to sit in the right position, just wondering if I should just get another or what is recommended for around £200?

look at Viofo
i use Blackvue myself though

I got a 70mai 4k STARVIS 2 with 1080p rear for £170 and could not be happier. It came with a 128GB sdcard as well and clarity is on par with my VIOFO A139 pro. The 70mai is for my wife’s car and was at least £90 cheaper than every other equivalent from VIOFO and Blackvue etc.

If you get one make sure to do a firmware update as it significantly improves the license plate clarity even at night.

I got a 70mai A810s for £62 and couldn't be more happy with it. It replaces my StreetGuardian that has soldiered on for nearly 9 years...the difference in picture quality is immediately noticeable

£62 squids delivered from china...pretty cheap considering. also got an aftermarket CPL filter for a fiver or so.

See if you can spot what almost went wrong

That was a close call and a nice save! But you didn't have your wipers on which impeded your vision and at 47 mph you were driving too fast for the conditions so you almost lost control at about ~40 seconds as the oncoming car strayed into your lane.

and it's always the lycra-clad cyclist's fault

I have to wonder from that clip if the other driver reacted at all - it looked like lane assist started nudging them back from the centre line :( bets they were on their phone?

Thinking of upgrading my ancient setup to a 4K system with front, cabin and rear. Anyone running something like this ?

Does anybody have any experience with the Viofo A329T, the one with the additional 2k front telephoto camera?

Bar any horror stories of reliability that's pretty much my next dashcam.

Picked up an ex-Toyota staff Corolla last week... Forgot to remove the Nextbase 385 from the quote so I could fit my old 622GW.

Glad I didn't. Wouldn't have the beautiful footage from the 385 of the going 21 year old lass putting an imprint of her Vauxhall ADAM into my rear bumper while she had a phone in her hand!

Admitted fault and Corolla is getting fixed, but chummy is gonna have a rubbish time getting her own insurance for a while, given she was definitely driving HER car as a named driver on Mam's insurance to save money (personal plate, reads her name if you squint).

Get the dash cam, fit the dash cam!

Oddly (but not surprisingly), that's the first thing my mate said!

Just about old enough to be her granda... Incapable of not doing duck face and V fingers in ANY photos on socials (checked for streaming footage of incident).

Might chuck the video on when sorted. If I'd had the sense to protect the previous couple of minutes as well, she'd probably be looking at a chat with the Popo and a dangerous driving charge for the couple of overtakes before coming up behind me (Thorpe Thewles to Tesco roundabout).
