It's only speeding if a speed camera would flash you, you'd never get flashed at 75 or even stopped ;)

I'm not sure how much the police really care either on empty back roads. Had a car following me late at night one time with headlights adjusted too high so every bump shone right into my wing mirrors which was irritating. Had had enough so decided to boot it to get some space (probably a poor choice). Car kept up with me though occasionally reaching 70-80 on the country roads.

It wasn't until I turned into a side road that I saw the police livery on the car as it continued past :rolleyes: You can't tell at night when they're following as all you see is headlights.

To be fair if you're showing an indicated 75. Chances are you're doing maybe 72mph. There's enough tolerance in the cameras to allow a little error.

Just like you can overtake a police car on the motorway without being pulled over.
 
Naturally, but to say you can't get flashed is a bit daft, seeing as I know people who have been clocked doing 73 :p
 
Why do i need to? If he's been pulled over by a cop and had the speed stated to.him, that's the speed he was doing.

If the speed limit is 70, you can get pulled over doing anything over that.

Not I have a half decent car again, I will be re-installing my blackvue dr3500 FHD some point this week. I had to find some decent 3M VHB pads, and found it all be terrible expensive.. But managed to find the same tape sold as helmet cam pads a fair bit cheaper.

However, on looking again, it looks like i could have bought a full roll of the stuff for not a lot more, and never had to worry again..

Still, hopefully someone else will read this, and make a bit of a saving :D

In terms of the install, the 7 series has a lot of electronics in the roof panel, so I think I will do the same as I did with the XF, and run the power from the roof. I just need to find an ignition live up there to plumb into.

Not to mention that the document is full of the word "guidelines".

Yes it's unlikely that you'll be done for 72-73 in a 70, but unlikely != impossible.

Chances are if you're slightly over the limit, but otherwise driving safely on a clear empty road, you'll be fine.

Conversely, if you're slightly over the limit in 1m visibility fog, 30cm off the bumper of the car in front then a) you're a ****ing idiot, and b) don't be surprised if you get done for speeding or even dangerous driving.

Just got this email from Rakuten (the new Play.com). I've had the 402G for a couple of years now and it's a great little camera and Which? award winning.

The prices usually fluctuate between £120-150 so it's a good price at £107.99 with the added bonus of £21.40 of super points to spend on Rakuten (you could use them to buy a micro SD car / Hardwire kit / case for the camera).

 
I was looking at that unit myself. It seems all units have good and bad reviews. I've got £50 love to shop vouchers sitting around so may be forced to get it from halfrauds
 
Just bear in mind you need to buy it from the shop in person with those vouchers...so if needed reserver on the website as sometimes items are cheaper like that
 
I bought a cheap Go Pro copy - the SJCAM SJ4000 but it works as a fully functioning dashcam too. Battery lasts well over an hour when recording 1080p so if you can't be bothered to run a permanent feed for it, it'll still work well on the battery.


Nothing exciting, just a test really. Youtube butchers the quality - the files straight off the camera are very good.
