How to get in now: Buy Dawn of War - Soulstorm at a store or Steam. On Steam, there's 75% off at the moment: http://store.steampowered.com/app/9450/ If you buy/bought Soulstorm in a store go to the Games tab of Steam and enter your Solustorm CD Key. The beta download will then appear in your Games list.

How to get in for free: Wait until January 28th.

What's included: All four races, all five maps. Everything multiplayer, basically. It is online only (no offline skirmish), has to be launched through Steam, and plays through Games For Windows Live, so you'll need an account with them too.

What I propose: We list our Steam IDs and Games For Windows Live accounts so we can start some fun OCUK gaming, free of 10-year old randoms who try their best to make your experience miserable by incessantly screaming obscenities through the built-in voice comms :D

So to start, here's me: Steam: http://steamcommunity.com/id/VE / GFWL: AndyB VE3D

I think i will wait a week for the fully open beta instead of spending £4.25 on soulstorm just to get the beta today. Souldstorm does seems like it could be a good game, but it sounds like it will be like dark crusade, where the lack of story just makes all the battles seem repetative, and not worth spending money on just to get the beta a week sooner.

Soulstorm was the worst expansion (because it was, for the most part, developed by an external team that went bankrupt shortly before release).

I'll be ready to play in the next 15-30 mins, but I ain't got no GFWL tags to play with. Post your Live usernames people, for the Emperor!

People were expecting a bigger, louder, flashier DoW1, and instead got Dawn of Heroes. For some that will be great, but others will hate it.

Hmm I got a Key last night and I have so far seen no where to use it, are we supposed to use this thing in anyway?

If you bought Soulstorm on Steam there'll be a DoW2 beta listed under Warhammer on your Games list. If you have a retail version of Soulstorm, use your CD Key in the Activation part of the Games section.

I'm thinking of cancelling my pre-order... I have the horrible feeling that they're going to micro-transaction us to death, and that it'll split the MP community, or leave some players with unique units that can't be countered because they paid for 'em.

There is no base building. Certain commanders can place basic turrets. There is no collectable Wargear in MP. The only item you can 'collect' is rank, which only adjusts your automatch opponents. You can select three types of commander, and a faction paint job (e.g. Ultramarine), but that's it.

In-game you can buy upgrades for your commander that last for the duration of the match only.
