DayMare 1998 - Resident Evil

This does look great for a game created by 10 folk, but could they not have spent 10 minutes together and come up with a better name than "DAYMARE 1998"?
Agreed. They are Italians, maybe they came up with the name in Italian and then translated it into English. Perhaps it sounds much better in Italian. Lol

Has a release date set for 17 September 2019 on steam.

Lost a little bit of excitement for it after watching a bit of the hour long demo they recently had. Story and characters seemed very bland. Will have to see what the reviews say, but still quite an achievement for a 10 man dev team.

Looks like there is a demo available right now on steam if anyone is interested.

Will give the demo a try tomorrow, hopefully it's good enough.
Let us know how you get on :)

My poor 970 won’t handle this game at 4K so I won’t get to play it until next year when I upgrade.

I am disappointed they did not go the classic resident evil route with pre rendered backgrounds. That would have been awesome.

Anyone had a go at this? Looks interesting from a big old school RE fan.
I have had a go on the free demo on steam. From what I have seen it has not fit with the vision I had for the game so not been in a rush to pick it up. Will grab it for sure at some point, but probably when it can be had for closer to a tenner and has had more patches.

I would support devs now and buy at full price, but as I say, their vision of what an alternative resident evil game looks like is nothing like mine apart from it being set in 1998. Lol. This means even if they did make another title in the future they will likely not make what I want anyway, so no rush to buy at full price to support them.

Saying that, not bad what they have achieved with only 10 people. Technically that is anyway.

Cool thanks it does sound interesting, I think ill pull the demo down and take a look.

Gave the demo a blast and thought it was pretty good although one of the puzzles was pure BS! :p

Not a fan of the reload/clip mechanic and the impact of bullets feels a bit off as far as the graphics go but ill probably end up picking it up in a sale.

Yeah. Needs to go on at least 50% sale for me.

Good mini review, I'll need to try the demo.

Picked it up for free on GOG and what a pleasant surprise this is!

I just finished it an hour ago.

12 hours of sweet well designed Resident Evil-like goodness, with lore and story that actually made me more interested than most Resident Evils managed. It is still B-movie stuff of course, but competent. It is only really let down in cutscenes, which have amateurish direction and not-great character models, but that can be forgiven considering that this game was made by core team of like 12 Italians.

I don't really have a lot to complain about here - gameplay was fun throughout, puzzles were good (with one exception, for which I needed a guide and still do not really understand it even with a guide), graphics was good enough, soundscape is fantastic. I enjoyed this quite a bit more than Resi 3 Remake, and even than Resi 2 Remake.

Very solid effort, 8/10 from me and I look forward to whatever these guys make next.

I usually agree with you, but this game felt boring and a let down to me. I actually supported them on kickstarter but they did not get enough interest so it did not get funded and I got my money back.

I found the characters and story subpar. I uninstalled after completing the first section.

What does that mean exactly? The first chapter is the weakest, imho. Although I still mostly enjoyed it.

And to be honest, Resident Evil games themselves have subpar (putting it mildly) stories and characters too...the main attraction is in gameplay and atmosphere.

Yeah, first chapter. I am not a fan of Ethan from RE 7 and Village, but the characters before that I liked.

The characters in Daymare are utterly rubbish in my opinion. The atmosphere was alright, but gameplay I found poor.

I enjoyed Tormented Souls a lot more personally. Characters were poor in that too to be fair, but gameplay and atmosphere was much better imo.

There are three playable characters, you only ever saw one...
They are not any more rubbish than Resident Evil's..

Except for their character models, those are bad
