Was it anyone from here who I just met up in the NE airfield?

Nearly wet myself when I went into the cell building closest to the hanger and the cell was open, just at that moment the voice came over direct!! Think both of us were equally relieved to put our guns down!! :)

Hopefully everyone also got the message about server restart over global.

Are the server restarts still only every 4 hours?
 
if i see another damn helmet!!!!! hopefully rocket will balance the amount of helmets with mopeds or variants of scooters otherwise.....wtf and tbh it isnt that bad atm its playable yes its hard because the loot only spawns after restarts but does it matter you have axes that mash zds in one thats all you need,maybe they should get rid of the sick bit tho its a bit rubbish imo i got sick from drinking too much water !!!! lol
 
I just don't like the fact it's obviously been released early to bait on the younger people that won't understand but will have money over Christmas and buy it anyway.

It's also much more expensive that Rocket himself originally stated it would be and also the fact there is no discount for owners of Arma 2 like Rocket originally stated.

I don't mean released in the sense of it being a full release, I just mean that it has been released for purchase.

Some people are putting £300k into ideas on kickstarter for games that haven't had one line of code written yet (and in some cases games that never get made)!!!!

Exactly how much do you have to put into elite or star citizen to get alpha, it's like £200, dayz is £20 yet people whinge

You don't get sick from drinking too much as far as I'm aware, just if you don't purify it there's a chance to become sick.
 
With a background in software development i appreciate the work that has gone into this alpha release. It wasnt a small task converting the mod and also rewriting entire areas to work differently adopting the new architecture.

But not only that some areas of the game have been totally reworked! Blood chemistry, disease and sickness, food, item damage and degradation.

Sections of the map have been totally reworked with extra buildings and new geography! Neil how many new buildings and locations did you see when we went exploring?

Plus we are forgetting the improvements in graphics especially textures.

Its an alpha! Not a beta, not an early release or even a release...

If you have ever written a computer program or typed in a listing or created 3d graphics then you will understand the hours of work that have been put into this :)

Like others have said it is almost recapturing those early first days of the mod, some are using their time to explore the seedier side of banditry and griefing and others are busy exploring searching out the new additiins to standalone.

Yesterday we found whole areas which used to be fields now crisscrossed with roads and what look like outlines for buildings. So there will still be some surprises in store and i think some new towns will be appearing. I also wondered if any underground complexes had been added similar to Namaslk / Taviana....

Anyway happy christmas folks have a tin of beans on me.

Some people are never happy :)

Nothing like getting yourself a mosin, some nice ammo, fully geared up with food and everything, and then crashing and loosing your progress. lol.

Oh well, it's going to happen at some point haha, it is a pre-alpha. The game is pretty decent from my perspective so far, some good moments - only had to kill one player so far! :o
 
That happened to dlknight, he was a bit annoyed

Game crashed, he played it crashed again, came on and he was wiped and back on the coast
 
I'm loving the game at the moment (25hrs since friday evening). To be honest for an Alpha the game works pretty well. Theres a few bugs which can be annoying but nothing that makes me want to stop playing. With regards to loot, its a little on the low side but you just need to know where to look. Practise / experience with the mod helps with that.

As far as I am aware, the reason for loot not respawning and zombies being on the low side is because with the mod, the server would need to check each loot spawn / zombie spawn to see if they needed to be refreshed, putting strain on the server. They are trying to avoid that so are going a different way.

I'm happy to buy it and to support the game, as its has a lot of potential. Graphics do look better than the mod (shame about performance, but with a bit of tweaking its better and it is an Alpha). The new inventory system is soooooooo much better than before, was terrible with the mod.

Regarding having issues picking up loot, press tab and use the vicinity loot thing on the left hand side of your inventory. Works pretty well I have found. Might need to crouch / go prone for some things.
 
The problem with the FPS right now is something to do with the engine I believe. Basically, everything you look at renders, plus everything to do with that object, not only things that you can actually see, eg I look at a fire station, everything inside that firestation, the loot, the stairs, everything renders and loads, not just the exterior and the interior parts that I can see through the window. This is the current problem with the game and the same thing happened with the mod, which is why people are still getting pretty big FPS lag. I believe Rocket plans to fix this with the engine or whatever, but who knows!
 
hmm wonder if it was you i axed to death. :D

someone ran up to ourlot then when the door opened ran off and hid. he didnt see me run round behind him and wgen he realized i axed him :p
