Just had a quick go on vanilla, showing a friend who has never played it what it's all about. 1st person only, pitch black night, the heavens open and starting with nothing. He died repeatedly, the last death being from the result of trusting someone he shouldn't have but he absolutely loved it! Hopefully this version will recapture some of that magic for the ones who have played it for a longer time.
I'm also hoping that it will be made even harder to survive. Has there been any word on a levelling system as such? Things like being hopeless at gutting animals/starting fires to begin with and you SLOWLY get more skilled every time you do it. Perhaps a system where reading books or getting taught from other skilled players could be implemented down the line. As an "outdoors" type myself I would love to be able to play a survivalist type of character, sleeping under my ridge-line lean to and trip flares set around my harbour area!
Oh gawd....I'm getting excited for this now. CHOO CHOO ALL ABOARD.
