Assuming you have let only 1 task run I would have expected it to have completed by now.

Looking at some of your failed WUs that had run times of 24 - 36 hours they all had less than 10 minutes cpu time so the real loss was that you could have been doing something useful with the time. It doesn't look like your using any cpu power over that time.

Mine for example run for about 4 - 5.5 hours and use about 45 minutes less cpu time than the run time (so about 3.25 - 4.45 hours).

If still not working I'd suggest you reset or remove the project. Take a copy of the app_config.xml file first (I put them in the /BOINC/projects/ folder) so that it's quicker to copy back when the project folder is re-created. These WUs take a long time to download so you should have time to copy it back in and then click Advanced, Read config files before any of the WUs start to run. Alternatively you can click the Suspend button on the Projects tab as they start to download to suspend the project, they still download but won't run. Plenty of time to put in the app_config.xml file and check that it is valid (any errors will appear in the Notices tab) when you click Read config files. Just resume the project to let it start work on 1 task at a time.

One other thing to check is whether you have VT-x turned on in the BIOS.
I had to turn it on for something else so it was already on for this project but by default it came disabled when I bought the board/chip.

It'll be in your BIOS somewhere, a search for your board and VT-x should find hits if you don't want to randomly wander round or read the manual !

None of your 8 WUs have finished yet so not looking good :(
7 of them haven't been assigned to anyone else previously but one has failed to validate for two other people but I don't think that is a problem. One user has had all their last 384 WUs fail and the other over 80 fail in a row  both are still running and failing tasks every 15-20 minutes :eek:

Hanluc is back yah,, I see movement !! :)

Just been contemplating getting another 16gig, hmmm £137 , damn price has gone up over the last 2 years!!! and ocuk dont sell it.. double :(

was 3, now on 4 as i have 16gig memory, we are 136th place in the teams!!! terrible, soon be higher tho :)

Yes, but that's up about 90 places since Sunday :D
Good project to get in early and build a good score on (own & team).
Those worried about paying the electric bill can run just as many cores as their memory can take and leave the others idle, so a bit of cost but not maxed out on the credit cards paying your bill !
Will also be harder for those guys running big 64 core rigs to stomp all over everybody. A bit like a pension , start saving early with a little regular contribution :)

Anyone else coming in ?
The more the merrier :)

I hadn't gone anywhere ;) I didn't get enthused about the pogs challenge, too soon from the last one but I've been doing other projects.

I've noticed your haswell run times are much quicker than my Ivy bridge, unless yours is at 5ghz or something. I used to have 32 gigs of ram in this machine, but took 16 gigs out as I though it was an overkill, but can I find where I've put them!?

its a bog standard 4770k with 16gig of g skill PC3-19200 DDR3 2400MHz
running at stock , with default cooler !
I rekon your maxing out your cpu with other projects at same time? i just got 4 threads running Atlas, my run time and cpu time are almost the same were as yours are far more run time then cpu time
Also on a ssd, not sure if speed of that makes a difference or not?

Yes, I'm keeping all cores busy too and nowhere near your times, plus your good memory will be helping access times.

Why haven't you moved up to 5 or 6 tasks at a time, would have thought you could do that without running in to memory problems ?

Why haven't you oc'd it
Get yourself a good cooler and put it on !

its my 2nd pc now, all my watercooling gear was moved to new x99 system so not done much with the 4770k ..yet. I have plans , just need a spare grand lol

edit: tried 5 and times for the wu`s shot up so i think 4 is max for 16gig

I found my other 16 gigs, I'm now running 8 tasks with 32 gigs, though memory usage is only showing 25% and CPU usage is all over the place, fluctuating between 10-60%.

EDIT: memory up to 46%, cpu 10% ?

EDIT2: memory now 63% cpu 90+%, so I'm using 20 gigs of ram which seems spot on if it's 2.5 gigs per task, but I don't know why it takes so long for my cpu to kick in, but it explains the long overall run times compared to the cpu run times.

Guess there must be some setting up of all the VB stuff at the beginning and possibly as they setup/remove the different experiments they do. Can't really help finding out what's what as I'm thrashing anything that moves at the moment :D

I'm still only doing 2 cores but have moved one to another box as 2 on the same box whilst it's at 100% doesn't work very well :(

Meant to say that you can now catch EBOLA !

WCG announced last year that they are working on helping with finding a cure for this and have now started sending out work for it.
