DC Vault

well i've switched to 17orBust but i'm not sure what use i will be. CPU only so these WUs are SLOW :-) still.. at least i can do 16 at a time.

Are there any settings i can fiddle with to improve performance?

I'm pretty green myself, but as I said in a previous thread with HT on the CPU load ran at 50% with it off 100%, so watch out for that, and the windows client reports to the server once a day by default, I *believe* the daily credit is only temporary until the WU is complete.

I have 4 threads running with HT off and each WU will take just under 4 days on a 2700K, credit seems to be around 10T a day.

@Remos you're looking pretty good so far, 10T on your first day, we took 19 places in SoB yesterday

@Phil I'll check dimes out.

..and we almost certainly will take 13th spot today, as well as how great we're doing in SoB, I've just dumped 500 Gimp WUs.

Correlizer has been removed from the vault, the quote is: "Deactivated until they get work units", we will gain 1500 pts on seti.USA because of this though they would be behind us anyway if the RC5 & OGR-27 stats were working properly.

Phil, I know you're doing a cracking job on PSP and may want to stay there, but I thought I'd give you (and anyone else) the heads up on yoyo, those nice big juicy 'mp' units are being dished out at the moment, I'm throwing everything at it, they generally come round in circles and last only a few days, make hay .. and all that.

It's not a necessity, I just thought you might want to fill your boots, as those mp WUs seem to give twice as much ppd than any other.

POEM@home would be another good candidate for your ATi cards, the RAC you now get from that project after they introduced GPU folding is up there with MW, hence why it's now so popular, my 570 was doing 500,000+ ppd on that, but of course go with whatever interests you, I'll be giving poem another bash soon regardless as we keep getting stomped and it's irritating me  ;)

Great job on that anyway Phil.

It's a tough one, I think it's certainly worth continuing with but it doesn't have to be right now. Two plans of attack could be either to throw everything at it, or just do little and often. I plan to revisit it, not sure when though, there's so much on my to do list :)

does running normal boinc count towards helping ( team 10 )? or do you need to set up some account or something?

http://boincstats.com/en/stats/-1/user/detail/2486254/projectList

The DC Vault competition comprises of lots of different projects, some boinc, some non boinc, here's our team page with all the current projects included in the DC Vault. Points are awarded for each project depending on team position, the higher the team position, the more points you get, with the maximum being 10,000 points, that is if you are ranked no.1 in any given project you are awarded 10,000 points, points for the other positions below are worked out by dividing 10,000 by the number of teams in the project with credit, displayed here. All the points in each project are added together which determines our overall team score, we are currently ranked 13th

The projects where we are ranked low are prime targets as they gain us more points when we move up, also working on projects where we are ranked high is important as it consolidates our position.

what should i add then? ( what would be most worthwile ) its been milkyway and seti mostly but will try anything

By all means carry on with MW and Seti, though as an alternative, GPU wise ( I see you have a GTX 560) I'd say GPUGrid, poem@home, collatz conjecture or primegrid. In fact there's a week long GPUGrid challenge going on starting tomorrow, thread is here

CPU wise I'd say Docking, cosmology, malariacontrol, rna world these are all good candidates.

You've done a cracking job on their Phil, it's gone from being one of our worst to one of our better scoring projects.
AFAIK OGR-27 is CPU only, perhaps we can both have a go at it, maybe in the new year sometime.

It's that time again, we keep getting stomped on poem@home, so I've switched from linux to windows to prop it up, so I'll have to leave you on your own on eon Phil. Currently doing Malaria control, which I've found runs quicker on windows and RNA world & PSP on the other rig. Progress is slow but we are steadily gaining on 12th.

... well that was short and sweet, no poem work now for my GPU.

Poem@home keeps running out of work , there seems to be a day or so drought then a couple of days work, frustratingly I never seem to get given a surplus of work, a couple dozen WUs in reserve at most , while other guys crunching this project get given them in the hundreds. I've changed the "maintain enough work" to all sorts but it makes no difference.

I've notice this before with other boinc project on my machines, one will get considerably more work the other, these are similar spec machines crunching the same project.

I used to get exactly the same issue on Seti and Rosetta. One machine would have days worth the other struggles to get half a day.

Never could figure out why as they were identical.

Anyway. Shall i stick with OGR-27 or is there any other CPU projects that need more love?

Yeah I dunno either.
OGR-27 is a great choice, besides PSP it's our worst project.
