DC Vault

I noticed you have been slogging away on PSP, nice work, I'll try to add some cores myself to reduce your sentence :) and I agree, the one after next is a long way off, probably the only one stompable would be the Goobee team, I can see the rest of them putting up a fight if we ever got close.

I have a question for you Phil, did you have to do anything special to get RC5-72 working on your 7970s? I've tried on mine and the client shuts down after a couple of secs with a 'core compilation failed' error. I'm using 'dnetc-win32-x86-stream' client, it says something about having to install stream drivers but they seem to be for older cards, I installed them anyway but I get the same error.

Thanks mate, now though I'm getting a windows message 'distributed client.net has stopped working' as soon as it starts. I'll have a play, see if I can figure it out.

... I still can't get it to work on the 7970 machine, but I tried it on the 2 x 7950s machine and got over 4 billion keys/sec on stock and over 5 billion OC'ed but my cards didn't like the CPU running, even a couple of cores killed my output, so I'll give it a go some other time, I need the CPU cores ATM.

... I updated the ATi drivers on the 7970 it's now working :) getting over 3 billion keys/sec on it.

What does anyone think to the idea of a 'project push' where we all hit one particular project for one whole month? it doesn't have to be every month.
The DPC do this with their 'stampede'. I'm just trying to think of ways for us to break into that illusive top 10.

Welcome swiftmetal! always good to have new members on board. A few of us are giving DPAD (Muon 1) a Push in August, but really go for whatever you like, WCG & primegrid are good choices, anything on this list is a good choice, you can see what projects support what in terms of CPU & GPU Nvidia/AMD by the icon next to them.

I'm having a few performance issues with DPAD on my rigs with two cards in, when the GPUs are running they drop the CPU load down to as low as 50%, I've tried altering the number of threads and the background priority but no joy. It's the opposite way round with the rig I have with one GPU, the CPU is a steady +90% and the GPU load drops, but not by much so it'll just have to be the one rig for now.

Running the Bill2 software and it's a lot better than before. I have the GPUs running 'below normal' and muon1 the same, not sure what they should be, I have tried all sorts.

I've just the one rig on DPAD for now, see how it goes. I've another on Asteroids and another one on Enigma, we've suffered quite a few stomps on those projects as of late.

What have you guys got running on DPAD?

I can't help feeling dissapointed with my production on a 3770K @ 4.2Ghz, all 8 threads running I seem to be doing around 100K mpts a day. Don't know if that's about right or if i'm missing some optimise setting or if my cards are dragging it down, CPU load is 92% but does fluctuate down to 70 & 80% often.

I run the cmdline one, I like to see what's going on, even though I don't know what's going on :D I think I'll have a rejig, no matter what my GPUs are effecting the CPU which obviously ain't good, though I thought it wasn't enough to matter.

A heads up for anyone interested in Asteroids@home.

When we ran our challenge a few months back typical run times for a 3770K with hyperthreading was just over two hours, around 10 days ago they released an optimised app which cut the run times in half to just over an hour, yesterday they released an sse optimised version and they've halved again, my 3770K @ 4.1 is taking 32 mins per WU now and still with the same 120 pt value, but there's talk of running longer run times so now is a good time to hit this project.
