You also have the option to play Warthog in "Game" mode for a casual game experience. Fly missions in the Caucuses region of the Black Sea against and with a wide array of air, land and sea forces with new and improved intelligence. Create your own missions and campaigns with the included Mission and Campaign Editors, and fly with and against friends online using the included online game browser.

• Fly the A-10C “Warthog” in either realistic or game modes.
• Fly missions in Georgia and Russia.
• Interactive training missions shallow the learning curve dramatically.
• Rich campaigns and single missions included.
• Multiplayer cooperative and head-to-head.
• Mission and Campaign editors allow user created content.
• The most realistic flight dynamics ever done for a PC simulation.

I hope this will be compatible in multiplayer with the blackshark. I really need to get back into that game. I learnt how to take off and fly and had a bit of fun trying (and succeeding :)) to land on various bridges and buildings in full realism mode. Never actually got around to learning the weapons systems though, the tutorials always take so long but there's no other way to learn :p

It's planned to be compatible with DCS:-Black Shark. Black Shark will receive all the software improvements in Warthog (except the actuall A-10) for free, to keep then compatible.

Oh and get the New patch for Black shark and have go a landing on a moving train :)

Edit:- I found the producers notes videos much better than in game tutorials can be found here :- http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=wagmatt&view=videos

Yep there's combat alright Strife212, here a trailer for Black Shark http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZjSI021j-c&feature=related

I should also mention they are planning something for Lock On too. Sounds like they are gearing up for another LOMAC addon in addition to the new DCS module, however they haven't release any details, other that they are working on another Lock On Product.

3 new screens released by Matt Wagner from Eagle Dynamics.

CLICK ME!

Simply awesome, I've never wanted a sim as much as I want this one.

You beat me to the Punch, it does look like it is finally shedding it's Lock On heritage. Looking Good.

can you set this to some sort of "arcade" mode. I am not ready for a full blown sim and need something to help me.

I have bought wings of prey and that has an arcade mode to help me.

Yeah It'll have an arcade mode, similar to the DCS:- Black shark arcade mode I'd imagine.

Does look damn nice, assume they'll still be using Starforce?

Yep same Copy protection as DCS:-Black Shark and the forthcoming Lock On:- Flaming Cliffs 2. Read up on it again, the type of Protection used (ProActive) has won over a few Die Hard Anti-Starforce people. But it is up to you in the end.

Looks great, is it best waiting for this release rather then getting Black shark now? Am i right in saying the A-10C release will include everything DCS: Blackshark has?

DCS:- Warthog will have everything except the Ka-50 itself. In fact DCS-Black Shark will get the improvements in the DCS:-Warthog sim engine as a patch, for free.

The basic Idea is that you buy aircraft as you wish, the game engine is improved for free.

Edit:- May as well post up the images..........

The only date given is "2010" and after Lock On:- Flaming Cliffs 2 is released in "early 2010"

The developers, Eagle Dynamics, are more inclined to postpone a release rather than have a buggy product (DCS:- Black shark was almost bug-less on release), so they never give firm release dates.

Sounds like some very cool features are being implemented for the A-10. The interactive JTAC/FAC sounds cool and on the other end of the scale - a Multiplayer chat lobby at last.

Nate

Edit:- Other stuff

SimHQ were at the E3 expo checking out Thrustmaster's new Warthog HOTAS

Engadget were also at E3 checking out the HOTAS with DCS and LO:FC2

New Vid showing the A-10C. Note that this Vid is from "The Battle Sim", which is DCS's military cousin. However, although TBS and DCS share much of the same code, there is no player controlled commander or FAC in DCS Warthog as far as I know.

Wish they'd do the Apache Longbow next, that'd be awesome.

Indeed it would but it would most likely take a military contract for it to happen. Know anybody high up in the British Army?

A Westland WAH-64 sim would be very nice indeed.

Some work was done on a AH-64A, but has been suspended indefinitely as far as I know.

I suppose it depends on what type of gamer you are. I like stuff with depth, but am quite happy with stuff that is mindless fun (e.g. Just Cause 2) for a short break.

I always find myself drawn back to Sims, be they Flight, Driving, Subs, etc. I find the challenge of mastering a simulation more rewarding than the grind of completing a game like JC2.
