DDR5 for gaming

Yes, I believe so, it is the other way around that is more likely to be problematic (EXPO on Intel). Worst case, it should boot at default settings (4800 @ 1.1v) and you can configure it manually.
Thank you, I will give things a go! It’s been a while since I did a motherboard upgrade and forgot the complexity of matching ram (or maybe it’s become more complex).

I don't benchmark and mainly use my PC for gaming, I've have been looking at a TeamGroup kit at 6000MHz CL30 for £289 which is expensive but is it worth it?

With top end Vs mid range RAM (and SSDs) there will be negligible difference outside of benchmarks IMO. Very much into diminishing returns.

When you can get 32gb 6000mhz CL32/CL36 for £160ish, I think the additional £130 can be put to better use.

Glad that this thread is here. RGB aside, should I pay more for CL30 vs CL36/40 6000 memory?

Will be pairing it with a 7800X3D.

My desktop is purely for gaming - I don't do any creative/professional/creation stuff. I don't play e-sports, mainly AAA/indie single player games and the occasional CoD/BF/etc.

Sorry, my bad. Should've read the rules.

Would there be any noticeable difference going from CL36 to CL30?

No, not in my experience anyway.

I went from a 5600X - ddr4 3600 C16 to a 13700KF - DDR5 6600 C32

Paired with a very heavily overclocked watercooled 6900XT

and I can see zero difference on the screen when gaming.

Of course benchmarks and FPS figures would show a difference but my eyes cant see any.

I decided to go with the Kingston KF560C36BBEK2-64 DDR5 ram. It worked out a bit less per GB over the 32GB version. It supports both XMP and EXPO, and I can confirm it works fine with my x670e Crosshair Hero.

Cool. What motherboard are you using it with, and is it stable?

I've found one. it was in stock but now looks to be pre order.

Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB 6000MHz CAS 30. (CMH32GX5M2B6000Z30K) can be had for £184.99.

So a better latency RAM for same price.

I actually bought that one. I mistakenly thought the c36 one was c30 lol. I couldn’t see any better than that. I read some horror stories about people failing to get 6200 or 6400 MHz. I’m going to try and tighten up the timings on the ram though as I saw someone who lowered their timings to c28.
