Dead Rising 3 latest vid just got me very interested in the game.

I haven't played a DR game before, but did pick up DR3. Also still have DR2 to play on 360, part of the games for gold.

My main question, I noticed in both there is a "time limit" which I normally hate in games. What happens if the time limit runs out? Does the game just end and you have to start over?

Yes. You keep your stats etc which is the main thing.

Anyone know how to get rid of you survivors? I am investigating an XXX store but the guy wont let me in unless I am by myself.

Go back to a safe house and go to the survivors board and highlight the survivor and turn them off.

The time limit isn't really restrictive in either game tbh, it just means you can't run around for days on end smashing heads in. It just pushes you gently along the main storyline in good time.

For what it's worth I quite like the time limits, and only saving in the bathrooms (in Nightmare mode in DR3). It adds a challenge to the game that wouldn't be there otherwise, and I'm all for that.

Is there a time limit at all in the normal mode? Or is it just nightmare mode?

There's a time limit in both modes, but it's 6 days, not 3 like in previous games, so it's not something you really have to worry about. The time limit is more restrictive in Nightmare mode though as if you complete a story mission early, it advances the time along a bit. That doesn't happen in Normal mode (certainly not that I noticed anyway).

Hi guys,

My friend and I picked this up last night - first DR game I've played.

Is it worth exploring aside from the main story line? Or once you've completed the story line are you able to free roam the land, cracking skulls and the like? :)

I fully enjoyed this release. Bit buggy, few rendering issues but overall was good.

Got the launch week challenges too :D

Nightmare mode with a lvl 50 character is far from a nightmare.

You can't do a free-roam after the story has finished, so you're best to go off and do all the side missions you can during the game. Exploring is good, but going after the collectibles is better, especially the blueprints, as you'll need them to be able to create the best combo weapons.

Also, if you've not played the first two games, I recommend going on Wiki or something to catch up on the previous storyline. It's not 100% essential, but there are certain parts of the story that make a lot more sense if you know the story of the first two games.

I give up on the first one. Just done a hour on it then got killed by some clown with chainsaws.

Made me go back to where i started, a hour before. No chance i ****** about doing that again lol.

I am a massive fan of autosave :p

There is a bathroom on the bottom floor of that level, so if you decide to try it again, save it there first so you only have a couple of minutes to replay.

He's worth beating though, as you'll get his mini chainsaws and they respawn every time you leave the area, and they are comfortably the best melee weapons in the game.

Pukes O Hazard works wonders too :) I think my first run through I used the electric rake. Much easier than getting close to the damn things.
