Dead Rising

Brought this game this morning

Got back

Played for 2 hours

Took it back

Hated it, it was the save system that ruined it for me

Its sad really as i loved the demo, couldnt wait for the game and told everyone who had a 360 (even those that didnt) to get this game when it came out as the demo was so much fun

But the real thing was just naff, all because of the save system

I keep seeing people complain about tearing, but as I haven't played it yet, can anyone who uses a VGA cable confirm this?

If so, has anyone tried using the component cable?

I had insanely bad tearing on mine using a VGA cable

Zero tearing for me.

Than again the only game I've ever had any tearing on was Full Auto!

I think it plays as smooth as a hot knife through butter.

i have seen what tearing looks like, i had it on my sammy when i played moto GP, havent had any issues of tearing with dead rising

as for the save game, its no different to how you would save at the end of each level on old skool tomb raiders and such, with the added bonus of being able to go to the toilets and save there to.

just getting into the latter case files, the story does get quite intresting, though i love a game with a decent storyline:)

oh and my big tip is, kill the guy who is guarding the gun store in the north plaza, ASAP, then just go and stock up before you go and take someone on, i hardly use anything weapons but guns, and a few bottles of wine, not struggled on anyone but the 1st carlito boss.

BTW theres a car park with a motobike and a car just of the big grassy green in the middle

O_M_G!

There is an achievement for dead rising for getting 50 survivors out of the mall. Think i could probably manage 20 if i didnt keep ignoring them to kill zombies (love the katana sword and sword from Highlander). The achievement for killing loads of zombies sounds hard but it really isn't. I was on something like lv 30 something, ran to the parking lot. I did a few laps of the maintainance tunnel on the motorbike and then in the red convertable. EAch trip should net you around 1800 zombies.

Another achievement that isn going to annoy me is killing 10 psychopaths. I can manage the one for 5 as i have killed 3 the 1st time around, but 10! Think ill have to save that for if i unlock the neverending mode.

Oh yer, also....does anyone know for the 5 and 7 day survivor avhievements if i could simply leave Frank in a safe place for that amount of time and simply get the achievement that way (e.g. on the roof or in a wc).

Ta.

The AI is doing a very good job of annoying me at the moment.

I took out the convicts outside, rescued Sophie or what ever the hell her name is, defeated Carlito and rescued the 2 guys behind the barricade and saved at the Gym.

The AI's doing a good job of getting itself and me killed.

I died and reloaded at the gym and it seems all the zombies have respawned...
All the survivors are sorrounded by zombies , I'm having a complete b****** saving them and getting them into the next area safely.

After 5 tries I turned off the Xbox, quite infuriating.

fs, how do I kill or stop Carlito with his snipey rifle when he's firing at Brad? I got close to melee him and he just either knocks me over with that rifle or throws a gren at me from close range while fleeing.

He's really really easy. Assuming you got the shotgun from the entrance plaza (just before the stairs) you can use the following tactic. See here

By the looks of it the player is at quite a high level, but doing it the way described in the video will ensure you don't loose even 1 block of life.

Ahh I'm reffering to the second time you encounter him. He's got a big sniper rifle and takes pot shots at Frank and Brad. You can't even get close to him without him meleeing you for a cube of health. I just can't even take him out with a pistol because he somehow manages to fire two rounds at once...

Yer it is annoying at first. I found it best to use one of the following methods (1st one works best for me):

  • Get in front of your survivors and set a safe location for them. They should run past you and head for it. As they are running, follow them. This way it is much easier to help them out, as the AI has a tendancy to run into the most crowded areas of zombies. This way works best when you need to escort several survivors.
  • If you have a couple of people you need to escort keep tapping Y as you're running. Don't stop, keep tapping it as this ensures they keep moving. If you do notice they are misbehaving (check their boxes at the edge of the screen, the character should always be moving) then double back to help.

Oh that one, didn't find that as hard. I just zig-zaged up the stairs the dodge his fire and hit him a few times with the chainsaw.
But tbh if you're having a hard time with certain pyschopaths then just wait till your at a higher level after 72 hour mode maybe.

You need to get the uzi in the demo area, then flank him so Brad is infront of Carlito, and you are behind him, if you go int he shops behind him, he ignores you, so you can run out and take pot shots...fairly easy really!
Top man, thank you very much. Grabbed an uzi and a few handguns off some cop zombies to help. I was hiding behind the pillars where Carlito and Brad were having a firefight. Ran out of ammo on the Uzi quick, but the handguns finished him off.

The game is already getting on my nerves for sheer frustration factor alone.

I dunno about you guys, but I love this game because it's hard. I'm taking my time with it making sure I do all the cases properly.

I aim to finish the game for the good ending and start again with a high level character for the Acheivements.

Really enjoying this atm :)

Can someone tell me where the Uzi is? I never found it in the demo so don't know where to look for it now :/

Yeah, go to the first set of blue stairs at security room when you start the game, go up the stairs, jump up the blue ledge, he'll climb up and you can run round the the top of the shops.

Follow it to the end and you'll find it.

There's an UZI in the fountain in Al Fresca Plaza, that was the 1st place i found it.
