Dead Rising

They should have let you strafe when you had the right trigger pulled rather than sitting there like a fool.

Search this thread for my post on how to get adam's chainsaw and what books to hold. tbh if you carry a shotgun arounnd with a couple of these chainsaws (NOT the one's on Al Fresca) you wont need anything else.

On a side note, i can get the Strike!
TYPE: 1 Play REQ: Send at least 10 zombies flying with bowling balls.." I must be doing summit wrong. I have bveen in the maintainance tunnels too :(

Not just you McD, i find this game so damn fustrating and ive given the benefit of the doubt numerous times but my god the control system is awful. Would have been better if they had the option of first person view but nope they didnt add...at least with hitman you had that option.

Still im giving this game a try, but i think its just too fustrating and already ive broken one controller because of this game:p.

If you HAVE to use guns (and i wouldn't tbh) just use the auto aim.

it may be that im tired, but this game is so frustrating.

The aiming system is beyond awful!

Im fighting Carlos and just die - ive aolmost killed him but it takes to long to aim, is there a way of getting a better gun before facing him at all?

If your talking about when you face carlito in the food court for the 1st time - you could by this time have have x1 SMG (from paradise plaza), x1 SMG (from Al Fresca Plaza (in the fountain) and x1 shoutgun (from the very start of the game, in entrance plaza, in the middle of a crowd of feasting zombies). Not sure if you will have had the chance yet, but if you fight the convicts in the park you get the the massive machine gun from the back too). Personally on this fight u just ran up to carlito and hit him a few times with the sledgehammer.

I can't get that either. The wording ("balls" plural) made me think you just had to take out 10 zombies by bowling them over. But since I defo took out more than that, I guess it must be 10 with one ball. Terrible grammar and spelling in their achievements!! :p

Anyways, I was going to try the maintenance tunnels later with the bowling.. but I guess I wont bother now if you can't do it. Not that you're very good at any games ;)

Yep, 10 zombies with 1 ball. Don't go to the tunnels (I tried there) go to the entrance to Wonderland Plaza (outside) and line up next to the lawn mower :) Took me 2 goes.

I'm going for the PP stickers and Gourmet ones tonight. Happy snapping :)

Where can i get a gun quick on Carlitos for the 2nd time with just a sledge hammer and 4 health bars, can never get to him before dieing.

Saw a truely ingenious way of beating him on the second encounter. Go into the sports store (close to where you fight him) and get the hockey stick.

Now, when you come out of the store carlito should be in front of you, standing still. Quickly run across the short passage and stand behind the post/pillar.

Click alt fire and line the hockey stick up with clarito and fire. He will only ever move from side to side every so often and he won't be able to hit you at all.

There's a video somewhere, i'll ghet linkage. Kudos to the guy who invented this method!

EDIT: but again, i'd recommend the chainsaws, two slashes and he's gone.

1. Dont have a chainsaw
2. have 4 bars of health each shot takes 2....
3. cant get close

/edit

Your hockey stick method worked fine though, ta

I just messed about at first to get used to the game. And once i got he chainsaw from adam i sorta found a glitch to get massive PP. Once, the cultist arrive in paradise plaza keep killing them (500 PP default for each one killed). Thenj go outside and quickly re eneter the same area. All of the cultist will ahve re-appeared and you can go again. There are also absolutely loads of them in the threatres in Wonderland Threatre.

Personally, to make the game less of a pain to play (as it is imho at levels 1-25) just play through a run of the 72 hour mode just trying to level up. If you go for the Zombie Genocider achievement (search youtube for effiency demos) from the off here you'll get massive PP bonus (especially if you're holding the Horror Book), the level up achievement, achievements for 1k/10k/54k kills and the indoorsman achievemnt.

After that you should start 72 hour mode again, probably atabout level 40 plus.

so am i doing it wrong by doing the case missions first time through?

no, not at all, but i do think your making things awfult hard on yourself. I found dead rising a pain in ass to play < lvl 25 tbh. The very first time i played DR i just ran around, got used to the controls and followed most of the scoops. I got up to level 30 doing it this way. If you do this you'll moost importantly have increased item stock (12 items @ lvl 50) and you can run faster (one thing that annoyed me so much is how slow frank moves at first).

But if i was to start off from fresh again id just keep playing until i got lvl 50 and then start to play the 72 hour and overtime modes properly.

Ok, i'm a bit bored at the moment so i thought i'd write a bit of post detailing all the stuff i have found useful whilst playing dead rising. Some people may find these totally useless, but they have helped me:

  • There is an SMG and Katana in paradise plaza (Linkage) and another SMG in the fountain in al fresca. Also, at the very start of the game in entrance plaza there is a shotgun to the right hidden in the middle of a pack of feasting zombies. http://youtube.com/watch?v=TdBsSjECe2s
  • This game is painful to play below around lvl 25. I would advise ignoring the case files at first and simply run about, rescuing survivers, killing the cultists (yelloe coats, green masks) and any random bosses that appear on your scoop list) to get up to lvl 50.
  • When you first meet Clarito in the food court don't use the pathetic excuse for a gun brad gives you as it'll take an age to kill him. Instead, equip the sledgehammer or katana, climb up onto the platform with clarito and hack him to death. You'll take a few hits, but there is a ton of health in the immediate area.
  • Assuming your just playing the case files to get ending A, always always always complete the "out of control" scoop at around 9-10 pm on the first day, even if you ignore all other scoops. Firstly you get the most powerful weapon of the game (well apart from the real megablaster effort) and you unlock an important yet highly useful shortcut in the WCs :) After you have this go into the book store in Wonmderland plaza to get the horror book and then to the bookstore in paradise plaza to get the entertiantment and engineering books. Your chainsaw's lifespan will have increased by 270% by doing this.
  • Don't bother using melee weapons against adam as they tend to breal very easily against him. Use the shotgun and SMG (wait till he blows a balloon and throws knifes at you, then shoot)
  • Adam's chainsaw also respawns at the ride throughout the game. So i'd advise exiting and re-entering the area to get 2 or 3 of these gems as they make the game soooooo much easier and have set yourself up for the entire game - i didnt use any other weapons.
  • If you ever need to get from a high to low area or are forced off a high ledge simply use the knee drop to avoid taking any damage.
  • When escorting survivors follow, don't lead. Also, in areas crammed full of zombies (paradise plaza at night) i found it easier to leave the survivors in a safe place and kill every zombie in the area before taking anyone through (this is easy if you have adam's chainsaw).
  • For a massive PP boost (if you still need it) keep killing the Cultists that appear the paradise plaza. After you have killed them all head to colby's movieland and kill some more that are in the threatyres there too. After clearing every room head back to paradose plaza. All the cultists will have respawned and you can repeat the process ;)
  • Grab the maintanance key after disarming claritos bomb's as this make overtime mode a lot easier, also grab a skateboard too.
  • If you wanna defeat Brock in the cheapest way possible keep spamming the double lariat on him.
  • For every single boss (apart from adam and brock, obviously) use the chainsaws.
  • There are often weapons hidden in trash cans.
Meh, if i think of anymore i'll add em later :)
