Dead Space Is Awesome!!

May seem like a stupid question but, how well can i expect it to run on my rig;

Q6600 @ 3.2, 4GB Ram and a 8800GTX Oc'd.

Just want to be certain i can play it on full whack before i spend any money on it.

Thanks.

Max settings easily, 1680x1050/1920x1200

Finally bit the bullet and got this one, holy christ it's scarey. Is there any way to adjust the joystick deadzones? They're a bit too huge for my likings (using the xbox 360 controller)

[EDIT] ARRRGHGGGHGHGHGHGHHGHGHHG

/hides under blanket
Disable vsync ingame then force it in your gfx card and the controls are perfect on the 360 controller. This also doubles FPS from 30 to 60 and the loading times are much quicker as well:D

just completed the first playthrough and fully expected it to have no replay value at all what with knowing all the plot and scares.

How wrong was I the rewards for completing are great and the 2nd playthrough opens more plot and items.

Issac never looked as good :)

how do you zero mavity jump? im presssing the default keys and nout happens, I press the breadcrumb button and thats telling me to go up the ceiling?.

any help appreciated

Aim at the ceiling/surface you want to reach (aim with gun, i.e. right-click mouse), then press "ctrl" (these are the default controls). He will then leap to that surface. Sometimes you'll get a red error sign show up on the aiming HUD, meaning you can't jump to that particular surface.

I find this game MUCH more satisfying than MASS EFFECT (had it on PC).

Much more entertaining :)

Me too! Looks better and runs like 10x better on my system.

This type of game can live or die by it's atmosphere. How does Dead Space measure in that regard? Good atmosphere? This of course may have been already discussed to death in the thread (if so, apologies), but I was afraid of running into a spoiler or two.

Think of the spooky part in Thief 3 (deadly shadows) and times that by 3, a game where u just cant help but keep your back to the wall but that doesnt always help.

Anyone running this game on a 1950pro?

I have that and a 3800 x2 and 2 gig of ram.

Might pick it up tomorrow if people think it'll run alright.

The further i play this the better the graphics get and the more intence the game gets
dont know about you guys but this is the best game i have played this year.

1920x1080 + All Ingame settings Max + 4870X2

Has anyone played this one in the dark, with surround on? It's flippin scary, but somehow I just love how it makes me jump all the time lol

Has anyone with the PC version seen the 360 one in action? I know the usual comments about better textures, higher framerates and so on, but I'd like to hear from someone who has actually SEEN both in action. Strikes me as a better match for the big telly and xbox controller rather than my PC desk, just wondering if it's significantly worse on the xbox.

Apparently both consoles fare surprisingly well on this one. Aside from marginally lower textures and resolution as you have said, important things like framerate and gameplay remain very good. This game was designed primarily with consoles in mind, hence why several people (including myself) are playing this hooked up to their HDTVs using a xbox 360 controller, to me it just feels better that way. If you don't have the ability to hook your PC up to a decent sized television i would recommend a console release over this, the atmosphere that will provide will improve your experience far more than higher res textures would imo.

my god !
it just spins and spins and spins ! how do i stop spinning ?
pleeeease
have i just wasted 30 quid

fixed !!

just copied this off another forum, to solve spinning issues in the game

I believe the problem is caused by a secondary control device which the game is accepting input from. I use the Xbox Control Driver Plus on WinXP 64-bit and an old school Xbox controller. This works great for most games, however I want to play Deadspace with a mouse and keyboard. I kept having this issue initially where my character constantly was looking at his feet, if I was using the mouse to look up it would allow me to and things seemed fine. However, as soon as i quit moving the mouse opposite of the direction my feet were in, it immediately drags my view back down to my beautiful shoes. I noticed that if I held down the left analogue button it corrected the 'look down' effect. So I decided to disable all the axis's on my Xbox controller but the problem still persisted. This time it was looking up and to the left! Anyway... to make a long story short, the problem is easily solved by unpluggin whatever joystick, gamepad, steering wheel, or any other input device you can think of. Because for some retarded reason this game doesn't have a way to specifically choose 'gamepad' or 'mouse' like most games. It tries to be all 'smart' and ends up screwing up.

So I just unplugged my Xbox controller from the lil adapter that plugs into my USB port and it disappeared from the 'game controllers' menu under control panel. Everything works great now. I initially tried the V-sync thing but that was not a success. I set V-sync back to on in the game and 'application preferred' in my Nvidia drivers.
