Dead Space remake

Finished this last night. Really enjoyable in the end, only downside for me was the final chapter and boss was a bit naff.
Will happily grab it again to do newgame+ in a few years. :)

I did that bit today. Was the worst section of the original and decently handled now.

Cracked on quite a bit and I’m up to mission 8 I think. Loving every minute of it and will be going for a NG+ when I am done. I am reading every text log and listening intently to every audio log just to immerse myself into it all.

Talking Isaac absolutely works for me I don’t know why we were all so worried.

Yeah I don't mind it all at all, I think it's definitely helped them pad out and develop the story more as characters are now having actual conversations with Isaac rather than just talking at him while he offers no response. I still have a fondness for that in the original though, I think it added to the eeriness of it all and made some of the dialogue a bit more impactful.

Is there a ‘better’ console to get this on in terms of performance?

I’m leaning towards series X as I can get it a bit cheaper than PS5 on digital and could go hard copy. But if PS5 was running away with it performance wise, I’d pay more for the better experience.

A cursory bit of google fu suggests both consoles are well matched, but I trust your opinions above all others! :p

Well I can only speak for the PS5 version but it runs and looks superb on that in performance mode.

Finished it. Brilliant loved all of it. Found all the rigs to get full security override. Missed a few side missions I think. 17.5 hours. Started NG+ so I might mop those up.
I found all the rigs and did all the side missions, but found that I missed a single security 2 room in medical. Bah!

Wish there was a waypoint that you can set yourself as I found the map a little unintuitive between floors.

Definitely felt like I wanted to add manual map markers as some floors are quite fiddly to locate. Currently playing through it again looking for all the fragments to get the secret ending.

I bought it on PS5 in the end. Started it this morning. I’m about an hour or so in. Just going back into the fray after returning back to the ship.

Haven’t died yet, but enemies just appearing right behind you is frustrating. It feels a little predictable too (so far) - go there, kill a few enemies. Do a thing and retrace your steps through an area already cleared and get more enemies spawning in.

That being said, the atmosphere is done very well and I’ve spent every minute on high alert!

I finished it last night.. Thought it was a great remake.. Well revamp. The story and most of the areas are just the same but with fancier graphics. There was however a lot of quality of life improvements however, like someone else said, a custom waypoint/marker would have been a flipping good idea, also something like marking on the map lockers/boxes that you need the higher security to open and removing the security level on the doors when you have opened them. I would like to play it through on NG+ but i would only be trying to get the hand cannon and i can see that being a utter nightmare..

Love it. Absolutely spot on polished game and quite forgiving on default(medium), difficultly, once I got into Chapter 4 I would say it's more intense, stressful than outright scary but then a lot of that comes from getting better weapons, upgrades etc. Most of my deaths were my own fault. 9/10 for me. Top 10 game of all time for me.

That being said I'm done, now for something less gruesome...Harry...*******....Potter.

Ha, great minds. I thought the exact same regarding the chapters. Not quite a top 10 for me, but enjoyable all the same. Can’t say I actually found it scary, but just enjoyed the atmosphere of it.

Harry Potter next :)

Enjoying the game but geez it can be annoying.

*Having all the surprise enemies basically appear on top of you and especially with no 'quick 180 function' is terrible.
*The map is a joke.
*And the auto save locations were seemingly added to the game by Stevie Wonder.

Other than that... having a blast :D

I personally never had enemies spawning directly behind me. I had a couple appear in front of me when opening a door, but that’s about it.

Agree about the map!

Phew... well that's that finished on Hard.
I was going to try the impossible run, but after reading the description of what that entails, it doesn't sound like fun at all, so I'll just go NG+

Also, WHAT THE ACTUAL **** in regards to if you die on the final boss (first part I assume) you have to sit through an unskippable 2 minute long cinematic EACH TIME you re-try.
That's just such a bizarre piece of bad game design it feels really out of place !!

I actually played it on Medium first time around, but his patterns were really easy to learn and no, I didn't die in that encounter (I think I died a few times on that playthrough though)

Then New Game+ I played on Hard with Plasma cutter only and he didn't hit me at all.
