driving home tonight loud scraping/screaming noise from passenger side car feels rubbish, managed to limp it home, sounds like drive shaft or a joint somewhere, noise went away when I put the clutch in so I dont know whats happened.
Best bit is Ford cant fit it in for 2 weeks, im gonna give them hell in the morning cos I told them it had a funny noise (slight clicking) two months ago and they told me they couldnt hear it and to wait until it got worse, well now it has in big style, luckily 5 months left on warranty.

Any advice on how I handle ford and get a courtesy car out of them.

no point doing it now, im home ford can come and get it as far as im concerned

Things happen mate, loads of people have the same problem. Ford do not offer this service. Not like its a lambo or something like that.

You will get further being nice, be an arse and you will get no where.

The problem you have is the warranty is just that - a warranty against mechanical defects. This means they can and will repair it but there is no obligation to drop a car on your drive for you next day.

Some manufacturers do offer this but only when they also include an assistance program with the warranty, ie BMW Assist.

If it doesn't feel safe to drive or you are concerned about doing further damage then I don't think it is unreasonable for Ford to pick up the car IMO.

exactly especially when they said there wasnt a problem a few months ago, if they had just fixed it earlier then it would be cheaper for them and less agro for me. When you buy a car with a warranty you at least expect them to fix it and give you something to drive whilst they are fixing it, its not like we all have spare cars.

I assume along with the warranty you still have RAC cover included. Give them a call and they will take it down.

Did this start off as a knocking sound when changing gear?

yep it did and ford said two months ago they couldnt hear anything, but I could and told me to come back when it got worse

If it was a metal clunky sound when changing gear its likely to be a gear shift bearing. Which I understand isn't a pricey job. I was worried when I could hear a clunk changing in 5th/6th at very low speed e.g. 20-30mph but it does this in no other gear.

So next year when she's in for a service I'm going to ask them to change the bearings.

yeah but now it feels like the bottom of the car is going to feel out and a screaming/scraping noise is coming from the passenger side footwell, so its not going anywhere so they can fix it under warranty

i wouldn't wait until next year, i'd get it sorted pronto

to the op, i think you are within your rights to have them pick the car up on a trailer. if they say they can't ask them where they'll stand if something goes seriously wrong on the way to the dealership? their service department should also give you a courtesy car if they have fair notice.

im not gonna go mad at them as its not really their fault I just dont want to have to shell out for a hire car while they take their sweet time over it, just gonna be assertive and to the point and get it to them tomorrow and hopefully get something to drive I dont even care if its a KA, and its only got 15k on the clock so I dont think im being unreasonable the cars basically new

From what I've heard it only becomes something requiring urgent work if the noise is intrusively loud, (i.e. heard in the cabin with windows up) and if its taking place with all gear changes. The fact I can hear mechanical parts move when i shift the stick at low speed when to be honest I've got the car pulling in a gear it shouldn't be in at that speed, makes me think I'm okay.

If if I engage the clutch which the engine off and move into various gears, the car sounds no different to any other I have done that in.
