Dead ST

well well well, inchcape couldnt get me a courtesy car or look at it for two weeks !!! so my other half goes isnt there a ford dealer down the road, we have just moved so never noticed and yes, guess what caffyns sorted me out with a fiesta to use and took my car in today, I limped it round the corner just!

just goes to show big dealers dont care, even the guy said to me we get loads of people from them as they dont care about warranty work and put it to the bottom of the list, wont be getting my service at inchcape guildford any time soon!!

update: dealer called me to say they cant strip the gearbox as its failed some how and dont have the tools for the ST and ford wont let them order in a whole new box, so it has to go to inchcape, so they took away by courtesy car and I have to get green flag to take it to guildford, so im stuck with no way to get to work and they cant look at it until the 10th wooooppieee!

:(update: called them today and they said they are waiting for the new gearbox as ford have just authorised a whole new box. Why wasnt this ordered on Tuesday, when they looked at it, I will never know. He said to me it might take a few days as its coming from Daventry I was like WTF its hardly the other side of the world. Ive given them an ultimatum fix it by the weekend or give me a car. Im gonna write and complain like a mofo after ive got her back.

Inchcape Ford Guildford - Never Again! and neither should you

update 2: Got a call today to say gearbox is on backorder and they dont have an ETA, to say im fuming is an understatement, apparently they cant get me a car until a week on monday and its fords policy to only hire a car for a customer if a car part is taking longer than 14 days. What a bunch of ******* ****s Ive had enough to say this will be the last ford I ever buy!!!

Wow, that's really bad :(

It's a long shot, but you could try Ford Customer Care

explain what has happened and that you need some kind of temporary car while the dealer have the gearbox on backorder. You may wish to explain that the dealer don't have / won't make a car available to you...

Worst case, you won't get a car, but you may get some free servicing / air freshener or something...

From my experience, ford dealers won't order a part until they've had a proper look at it and completed a warranty job card, then they get authorisation to order the parts, then wait for them to arrive - pretty much every part my car has needed has been on backorder! Then another trip to the dealer when it finally arrives.
If they order the part and it's not authorised / incorrect then they have to pay for it - this is not something they like doing.
Mine is in for a diagnosis on Boot gas struts on Monday - they can't have a tech look at it and just order the parts - so I've got to be without my car for a day while they diag the problem, then again once the parts arrive. Which is a bit backwards in my opinion - being that it's something very easy to diagnose!

Best of luck with your situation chap, dealers do vary a lot, one of the ones I went to took a demonstrator with 5 miles on it and gave it to me as a temporary car while mine was in for some chip work caused by some tool dropping a bunch of keys on the roof - so it can be done with a little persistance! I just had to add it as a temporary car on my insurance - didn't cost me a thing...

Sadly I doubt you'll get very far - they don't have any obligation to provide you with a loan car as far as I am aware.

It really shows why Ford are in no way a premium brand - I wouldn't expect this level of service from BMW or Mercedes!

my mate had a one series that broke and he had a similar experience to me they left him hanging for weeks before he got a hire car, it was only 12 months old as well, ford said if mine was 1 year or less I would have had a car in two days its pathetic

Of course, if you wanted this level of service you would buy a jag.

Not sure what their premium is now, Volvo?

Very true, my old man had an issue with his E320, outside of warranty but Mercedes picked up the car and within 2 hours there was a virtually brand new ML outside. Top class service.
