Dealer annoyances

On a 5+ year old car, aren't you better off going with an independent rather than a main dealer?

Sure, it'll wreck the FBMWSH when you come to sell it but, by the time that happens, you'll most likely have forked out more in extra charges to get the dealer to service it than you'll recoup from the slightly higher residual value.

The saving over using an independant is not enough to warrant doing it. If I was saving £100+ I'd do it without a shot but for the sake of 40 odd quid, whats the point?

I would actually rather use a good indy than a dealership. Even if the indy cost more. Dealerships never really seem to care too much about the car, whereas the indy needs your business to feed his kids.

They are changing the oil and a few filters. I'm sure they can manage :p

Fairy nuff, didn't realise the difference was that marginal.

A ton for oil? jesus wept, i knew synthetic stuff was steep, but that's really sticking it to you.

Even if you get it off ebay it's like £70 :(
What oil is it? How much is it from a motor factors? ebay doesn't really mean cheap with car parts I have found.

Yes, I can, and to be honest, I intend to, which will minus £100 from the price.

Problem is, even at places like Halfords the Castrol stuff is £45 for 4 litres. I need 6 litres..

I would sell it at work for £38.50inc VAT for 4 litres, we dont keep it though, ive never ever been asked for it tbh, most of my customers want to pay next to nothing for oil.
