Debadging

Yes and No, I never even give a half glance at a Colt so never noticed them. Do understand it does depend on the shape of the back as well, your Yaris is a hatchback so the back is very tall, a coupe or saloon does not look so good with a large fonted badge.

I took off the 'Fiesta' script but left the ST badge, and obviously the Ford oval as you can't take it off easily.

Now people at work keep calling my car 'the blue focus' which is a bit odd! Given it is often parked near a non st mk6 fiesta..

I have the yellow mountune badge too, and should soon have the new mountune racing chequered flag 'M' badge, and will be deeply confused about where it should go (as the place mountune put it looks dreadful) or even if I should put it on at all!

S2000 badges came off the wings of my S. Looks much cleaner.

Easier to clean also!

Sorely tempted to shadow chrome the remaining 2 H badges also but that is....work :D

Well no, they are not.

Look at the figures, theres next to nothing in it.

Perhaps a second difference in 0-60 and a few MPH difference on top speed.

Given that most drivers don't use max speed nor use maximum 0-60 capability, as I say, in the real world there is nothing in it imo. (Bar double the MPG of the Diesel!)

Your the chap with the figures Fox, post them, is there REALLY that much of a difference? more to the point, a difference that the majority of drivers would notice or care about?

6.7 vs 7.8 secs

With a quick an easy remap, the diesel can do 6.3 secs. And as said 1.1 secs is not a lot in real life and the extra torque is handy on the diesels.

Even versus a new 328i the diesel holds up well. Okay from a standing start the petrol will win but at 50 mph the diesel will leave the petrol standing.

Thing is not many know what a T5 is, they just see it as a Volvo - so losing the badges won't affect people's perceptions of the car. The main benefit is cleaner backend.

I drove to the places i wanted to go. I sometimes drove a little bit enthusiastically but I didn't drive like a tool on purpose.

I did crash, mind :p

Who said anything about driving like a tool?

You can have a traffic light GP and still drive sensibly well within the law.

I prefer no badges on the back of the Volvo, however it is very car specific. The TT would have looked very strange without the Audi logo for example

99% of debadged cars are vauxhalls or cars with a poverty spec and the owner is embarrased :D

Not too far wrong LOL! I debadged these:-

1988 Rover 213s
1994 Ford Orion 1.8D LX
1989 Ford Sierra 2.3D GL
1988 Mini Jet Black
1976 Mini Clubman Estate
1997 Astra 1.7TD
1994 Mini Cooper SPi

Man I have had some crap cars!

There are a couple I didn't do thinking about it.

Several 1.8 LX/GLX Sierra's
1996 Mini Cooper Sport MPi
2005 Passat SE TDI
2008 Golf Bluemotion Match
2008 Audi A3 1.9TDIe (Got it a week ago an only keeping it till March)

I've also got a couple of turbocharged classic mini's these days but I really need to buy an interesting/exciting car before I'm too old!

I only read this post as I noticed on my insurance renewal it mentioned badges (and ICE) under the modifications section. I'm actually astounded that de-badging can affect your insurance. I have an Audi bought 7 years ago from an Audi dealer and it was de-badged and it never even crossed my mind to think of insurance. I could have had my insurance invalidated at any time.
Its just another pathetic way for insurance companies to try to get out of paying you!!
