Decent game controller?

New addition to the fold, Beitong Kunpeng 20. It's not officially launched yet but they sell it on Aliexpress lol, £33. Uses TMR sticks, mech ABXY, microswitch D-Pad that seems to be alright actually. I just don't like that the trigger lockouts aren't mech mouse click switches like they should be but instead membrane.....

Defender and tarantula Pro still the duo for me though.

My Tarantula Pro arrived on Monday - you're right, it definitely feels a lot more sturdy/quality in the hand than it looks in pictures.

Not sure I'm getting on with it though, tried playing God of War last night, and really struggled to aim - that might just the be the difference in sensitivity compared to what I'm used to.

It also seemed to have a lot more latency than the DS5. I tried them both back-to-back and something definitely felt "off" - this was using Bluetooth (I couldn't get the dongle to work on the Shield :()

I'll give it another go and tweak the settings when I get a bit more time with it, but after 20 mins of struggling with it, I ended up giving up and going back to the DS5.

I would definitely advise against Bluetooth for controllers as it's too low in polling rate and too high in latency. If the dongle is paired to the controller via PC first then the pairing is remembered, tried it that way?

The controller seems to pair with the dongle fine - the lights on both the controller and dongle went solid after flashing for a few seconds - it just wouldn't respond to any of the controls :(

The DS5 connects via bluetooth and it's absolutely fine with no latency (I'm sure there probably is some, but nothing noticeable), and I think the Shield controllers do as well.

Hmm could be the first party controllers use bluetooth chips that are geared specifically for this sort of use when connected to a console

Does it work with usb cable? If so then those Xbox adapters that allow any 2.4Ghz controller to work on console may be an option?

Didn't try with the cable, tried redoing the dongle a few times, but no luck, the only way I can get it to connect at all is bluetooth.

I did a factory reset and recalibrated the sticks/triggers, and it felt a lot better - managed to play for an hour including a big boss fight, with no issues - maybe the calibration was just off out of the box or something!

Don't really want to spend more just to try and get it working at this stage, 50/50 on keeping it or just picking up another DS5 (and swapping to Gullikit TMR sticks if/when I start to get drift).

Thought you'd ordered one?

I'm using the Tarantula the most now as the extra buttons have been remapped to activate RTSS/NVApp etc without touching the keyboard.

Convenience++

I never got round to it, went to Morocco for 3 weeks (now have a stack of credit card bills to pay!) and I am getting a new Mac after that. So a controller has gone down the priorities.

So...grips?

Voila. I'm not sure where I got the idea these were numbered though. Mine certainly isn't or I haven't found it.

I haven't used it yet but it feels very comfortable and I like the weight of it.

I would be interested to hear your (second) opinion on this forum too. Buttons feel, triggers feel, prolong usage from a weight perspective etc
