Decent game controller?

No further forward yet with my issue. They were very fast to reply when I asked for an order update (within 4h) but not yet heard from my email sent on the 10th*

In the meantime, I have managed to get different results by holding in that T button for different amounts of time.
I've actually managed to get lb to respond, however it does also flicker on and off when I'm not touching it and eventually stops responding or ghosting multiple inputs. Very odd.

New thing I've noticed. Pressing lb is making the RGB on the home button flash. However, a few more presses of this mysterious t-button and it stopped flashing, lb functions for a bit, but inevitably always ends up getting stuck on according to the GamePad tester.

Omg I think I've fixed it. Unfortunately though I have no idea how, but it's all been to do with messing around with the turbo button.

Broken again after changing RGB looool.

Considering how long it took to ship this out, I cannot believe they didn't test it before they sent it.

Okay, something I can now replicate it registers the button is being toggled if I just rest my finger on lb but don't actually press it down. This is clearly now a hardware fault.

R1 on my SMX05 now requires me to press it very hard to function. I'm noticing a pattern here with mrk recommendations and faulty hardware :p

Good ol' PS5 controller still going strong though. Never had a controller issue until recently.

Took the SMX apart and fixed, for how long who knows. Had to adjust screws on circuit board so it was up more on one side.

PB situation looks like it will be going to a chargeback as they won't respond.

TMR is due to be superseded in January it seems! New tech with even lower latency, higher bit resolution, lower power draw.... More soon :o

The X05 was a tiny tolerance issue, the little prong on the button wasn't comfortably reaching the actual button on the circuit board, so I just loosened it and then like held it up on one side a bit and redid the screws and it was fine.

The PB issue is nothing I can fix I'd imagine and I don't want to try on a controller that costs that much. Shame as I really liked the ergonomics of it. Bloody sensitive sticks though.
You're right though it is actually strange because these are the first two controllers I've ever had an issue with lol. Interesting on the new tech though, though I do feel it is getting to the point where you'd only notice this stuff by using measuring apps and there won't be much of a tangible benefit, though if it costs no extra then why not.

Update on my pbtail issue, someone suggested I use the webform on their site which I did and then received a reply very promptly after, bonus flirting.

Dear GC:
i will have to say your voice is charming....
i feel sorry about this.
during the half a year, we met one like yours...
but thats found here, so we can find out the reason.
that is about electrowelding....
so we are going to send you the new one.
and attached file is the video, that we have checked the new one.
regards!
having a nice day!

Oddly, the webform email shows the same as the one I sent to before, so I mentioned it just in case there was an issue. Can't say fairer than that resolution, and they even sent me a video of the replacement one working fine.

Good stuff, yeah some things get a bit lost in translation to comedic effect :D But they are very responsive and get investigating if something new crops up.

Yeah I'm glad because like I said, I loved the weight and ergonomics of it etc.
They don't want the other one back either, maybe I'll see if @Vince fancies a completely new challenge because I doubt he's fiddled with one of those.

Right I'm starting a career in radio or something, this must be a sign.
actually i have received yours. because from me "after service" excel i have found your record...
and i do feel i answer you to asking a video on that?...
sorry... sometimes busy ... and maybe i will reply with my mind....
tks for always be patient to us.
and we will be always here, no matter where you are contacting... we will reply you sooner or later...
again! what a charming voice... envy you....
here is the tracing number: xx
having a lovely weekend.

I recently ditched my PS5 and now use my PC for gaming. For FPS games I very much prefer keyboard and mouse but for other genre games I'm looking to take up some BF deals and grab a controller.

Not a fan of the shape of the xbox style controller, the official PS5 controller can be had for £35 at the moment, is there anything else worth considering in a similar shape/style at that price?

I've got an Xbox one controller.
They only had lime green, so it's lime green.
I use it wired because if I sit any further from my pc I'd be in another room and not be able to see the screen.

I've given up with the Tarantula Pro, there's nothing really "wrong" with it as such, I'm just not really gelling with it, so I've just picked up a sexy volcanic red dualsense as they're quite heavily discounted just now.

I can return it to Gamesir (within 30 days), but it needs to go back to China and shipping will be about £20, so probably just going to sell it on.

Anyone after a cheap Tarantula, keep an eye on the MM soon ;)

There is a new firmware for both Tarantula Pro controller and its dongle, you will need to get the l;atest GameSir Connect app off the Windows STore and connect the dongle first and do that, then the controller via USB so it does that afterwards.

No changelog which is a bit annoying.

A surprise package in the post today, from gameSir:

500Hz wired, hall effect sticks, made for mobile use obviously and ABXY buttons can be swapped around physically and then mapped for Nintendo layout in the app whch is kinda cool I guess.

I personally don't have a use for it so will likely give it to my nephew as his birthday is coming up :D

Hi Folks,

Apologies for a potential thread hijack but this seems to be the most appropriate place for this related question as there's a good range of experience and knowledge here.

Do any of you have any wisdom to share on which controllers are better suited to those of us with large hands? I'm currently using a Dualsense which I quite like (even though it's a tad small) but it's beginning to show the first signs of stick drift. Reading around the web it seems this is a really common fault with these particular controllers so I'm loathed to buy another one.

I've used a standard Xbox controller in the past and that was really uncomfortable to use as was a Razer Wolverine V2 that I tried. I've recently just tried an EasySMX X10 which made my hands hurt after 10 minutes of use so I'll be sending it back, was impressed by the quality of this one though considering the price.

I'd rather stay away from the so called "pro" controllers as there's no way they're worth the silly price tags.

@mrk you've clearly had a lot of experience with a wide variety of controllers - can you recommend any that would be good for someone with large hands please?

Cheers.

The Xbox layout controllers all follow similar sizing so if an normal Xbox pad is too small for you then none of the controllers mentioned in recent times will do that are Xbox layout, though the Tarantula Pro is PS4 styled and sized and that shape tends to be better for universal hand sizes so might be worth checking out?

If you like the DualSense I'd suggest just getting another DualSense, they're on offer for £40 at the moment. They look and feel premium and they are ridiculously responsive/accurate when overclocked on PC. What I do is test the sticks with Gamepad Tester, moving them a tiny bit in each direction then letting go, and if they have stick drift over 0.05 out of the box then they get sent straight back. I've been through a few DualSense controllers and fortunately haven't had any issues with stick drift so far, I've only had to replace them when the left stick gets worn out and gets more difficult to press L3.
