Decent game controller?

Where I bought it from only sell the black one with a stand, and it's now at £39.99!

Can't mention the shop due to OCUK selling gamepads, but I'm sure a quick Google will show you.

Oh, and I ordered mine on 6/1 and it arrived 11/1, so no six weeks wait either!
£55 on Amazon for the Cyclone 2 with charging stand. The refund for my EasySMX X10 would have knocked £26 off that price, but I'm way too tight to pay an extra fiver if I don't have to.

I have a "Charging Base" (IKEA Besta media cabinet with a 24 port USB hub, for all the various peripherals in the house), so I wasn't too fussed about the stand.

Also looked on AliX and it was £48 with taxes, plus a minimum 7-10 day wait.

Then I found a 13% discount code for the geeky place...

Happy with that.

Great price for an awesome pad.

Like I said earlier, makes a mockery of pads costing £150 plus.

Enjoy, you won't be disappointed!

I may have caved and ordered the Gulikit KK3 Max as a birthday present to myself. Will compare it with the Cyclone 2 and tell myself I'll return the one I like the least, but probably will keep both as separate PC/Switch controllers...

I had the KK3 Max, returned it within a month. Their controllers have QC issues sadly and I didn't feel the sticks were all that like reddit made out, much like the massive hype there with the FlyDigi 4.

Appreciate the heads-up. It's easily returned if it doesn't meet expectations, thankfully.

Save me a search and please let me know what your current favourite controller is - PC and/or Switch?

For fighting games I use the PB Tails Crush Defender and I find it great for those type of games that use the analogue sticks since it's TMR and very responsive. The ergonomic shape is also great for fighting games how I grip the controller.

For everything else it's the GameSir Tarantula Pro.

I think it is worth having more than one controller, especially using different stick layouts as you can then switch between games as not all games favour either style. So for me, these two controllers deliver exactly what I game with. On PC btw, I sometimes play on Switch but 95% of the time is it on PC.

Needed a new gamepad as my Xbox Series X controller I use on PC had started to register double inputs on the A button now and again.

Bought a Cyclone 2 after all the praise on here. Loving it so far, feels a level of quality above the official xbox pad for cheaper.

Mine's arriving later today - 8 days after ordering. Could have had it sooner if I'd ordered from Amazon, but £35 instead of £55 (at the time) was worth the wait.

Look forward to have a play.

Yeah I ordered off the official website as it was cheaper and had to wait a week for it to come from China. Worth it though!

Apart from using the Elite Xbox 2 pad for Forza Horizon 5 which uses the trigger feedback, the Cyclone 2 is my go to pad now, it's just so nice, accurate and comfortable to use.

I'll have the occasional foray with the PS5 pad in games that support the haptics, which are few and far between.

It appears I made a mistake ordering the Gulikit King Kong 3 Max...

...as the Wife has commandeered it for Mario Odyssey. Have already ordered another

Loving the Cyclone 2; BT range appears to be better than the PS5 Dual Sense, as I'm not getting any dropouts when using PXPlay on the bedroom TV.
Mapped the buttons for Star Wars Outlaws: the only significant change was pressing both + & - (set as Options & Share) to replacement pressing on the touchpad, to access the map/inventory menu.

Really nice to use - smooth thumbsticks and tactile, responsive triggers.

I did pinch the thumb stick caps that came with the KK3 Max (have ordered a set of PS5 compatible ControlFreek caps to replace them), which fit the Cyclone 2 perfectly and increase the thumbstick height a little bit.

I appear to have caught the 3rd party controller bug...

Looking at the list, none of those would be controllers that I pick for myself, and I've had a bunch of them already :p

TMR sticks or gtfo!

Cyclone 2
Tarantula Pro
PB Tails Crush TMR

Pick 1 or 2 to taste :p

So what's the current best controller that is cloest to Xbox shape? I have an 8bitdo Ultimate 2.4g in purple which I like, but if I hold it too tight, my wrists start hurting. The obvious answer would be "don't hold it so tight", but when playing something like Nine Sols or anything I'm really into, sooner or later I start holding it tighter :p. Never happened when I was using an Xbox controller, so must be the shape.

Don't really care about gyro or anything like that, couple of back buttons and tmr/hall effect sticks and a decent d-pad will do me.

Thanks.

What's wrong with an actual xbox controller? Feel like I'm missing/have missed out by getting various versions of them over time!

Cyclone 2

Thanks. I'll take a look properly tomorrow, but looks good and £40 with a dock is a decent price.

Still using potentiometer based sticks. Planned obsolescence, sooner or later they will drift.
