Decent game controller?

That Flexi is a good controller btw, but ultimately flawed because of the lack of customisation since it has fixed deadzones. Annoying considering it has excellent stick performance and wireless stability otherwise.

@mrk I've checked the manual but do you know of a way (other than I expect plugging in) to stop the defender from turning off when not in use? I wanted to use it for controlling a vehicle but that is as and when so whenever I get in to it my controller has turned off because I am using normal kb+m for fps controls.
You are not going to use one of those for a submarine are you?

I have been using the Tarantula for everything as of late but today figured I'd whip the Defender back out for Rivals for the first time and have to say for ergonomics in a game like this, this controller is exactly the one to use. the rounded shape just feels like it's shaped for this game, or this kind of game that requires quick reactions.

The 1000Hz and latency felt perfect too.

I played against my niece lol:

I highly recommend the Gamesir Cylcone Pro 2. Been thrashing it over the Christmas period and I have to say it's a fantastic controller.
Here's an in-depth review:

Cyclone 2 arrived today, I've had it plugged in 5 minutes and wow. What a great feeling controller, quite a step up from the bog standard Xbox controller.
And.....WTF....Just for giggles I fired up the Gamepad Tester circularity test. Amazing 0.1% average error, I have never seen any controller I've owned make pefect circles! :eek:and both sticks perfectly centralise each.

I'm now going to smash it like a mad man pretending I can play Wukong with any sort of skill.

Many thanks for the recommend and review @mrk

The 0.1 is a red herring as it, like many controllers using hall or TMR sticks, is using the fake circles by default. If you turn off the fake circles and have raw sensor area then that number goes to between 9-11% which is what is expected for an accurate stick calibration, you also make full use of the entire stick range this way which is handy for certain games. the centering in either mode will be perfect as will the sensitivity to even the smallest stick movement since it's TMR.

Well, as expected from here and reviews, what a superb controller the Cyclone 2 is.

Hard to believe the quality of this, and an included stand/charger, all for £41.

If it had two extra back buttons it would be near perfect.

Tried it with Stalker 2* and no more drift.

This should shame Microsoft and other manufacturers selling inferior gamepads for three to four times as much.

Roll on the Cyclone 3 with four back buttons and trigger vibration!

Oh, and love the added RGB! :p

*Doesn't work without downloading a game input dll and adding to one of the game directories.

I'm not a big fan of the xbox controller so not sure the Cyclone 2 is best for me, I very much prefer the PS controller shape.

Is the GameSir Tarantula my best bet?

Been using the GameSir G7 SE for last few months finally replacing my old 360 pad. Cant fault it for the money and the back buttons come in really handy. It is wired so maybe look at other pads they sell if bluetooth/wireless is something that intrests you. But as a brand the Gamesir pads seem really well built, Id definatly buy another.

Had to return my EasySMX X10 after it refused to power on. Amazon tried to fob me off with "contact manufacturer", but I showed the support agent my Gucci belt and corner sofa and they immediately offered a full refund instead.

@mrk @Kelt - where are you buying the Cyclone 2 from? Want a white one with charging stand.
I'd rather not pay Mr Bezos a £15 premium, but don't want to wait 6 weeks, either.

Where I bought it from only sell the black one with a stand, and it's now at £39.99!

Can't mention the shop due to OCUK selling gamepads, but I'm sure a quick Google will show you.

Oh, and I ordered mine on 6/1 and it arrived 11/1, so no six weeks wait either!
