Decent game controller?

Some of the new gamesirs have been a bit of a money grab, all these collab editions of the G7 Pro for example all costing £99 - Lol? Stargazer looks good but it misses any custom buttons as per G7 series, may not matter to those looking at a lower price controller though I guess.

Not a fan of the linearity of the new Stargazer though as per above video shows.

Is there any consensus on what's the best Xbox pad replacement?

As in wireless, better switches and analog gubbins, but still at a reasonable price?
 
G7 Pro is my fav to date in terms of direct Xbox pad alternative, especially if gaming on PC as you get full mouse/keyboard mapping customisation.

I still have not had the steam controller email yet to order so that might change once that arrives.

If you don't like microswitch ABXY though then one of the models with membrane buttons would be a suitable alternative. I much prefer microswitch ABXY for how they feel and sound.

I'm quite tempted but it's quite pricey at £90.. does it come with a usb wireless dingle, or can it do Bluetooth?

(ill be using it on PC, I dont have a console).

G7 Pro comes with the charging stand, wireless dongle, bluetooth so yeah all supported. It is quite pricey too but it does have the overall nicest stick feel I have used for xbox layout pads I would say and they feel.

Cheaper option to the G7 Pro as @mrk said would be the Leadjoy Xeno Plus. Very good but only slightly cheaper. I have both, plus Tarantula and Steam Controller.
 
Be sure to install Gamesir Nexus off the Windows store, it allows you to fully customise everything and also apply new FW updates.
 
Ended up selling my Tarantula 8k on, it just never felt right in my hands. It also felt a bit cheap compared to the other GameSir controllers I've used. I'm sure a lot of people will like it (and it's price!) but it wasn't for me.

I did grab a Leadjoy Xeno Plus as that was getting some good reviews and wow - for just under 60 quid, for me, it clears the G7 Pro 8k. It doesn't support 8k polling (max 1k hz) but it's stick and button latency are so low that the benefit of 8k isn't massively required for it (a bit like the 1k hz firebird controllers).

The feel is lovely, the paddles are perfectly placed and the analogue stick covers are the best I've ever used. I ordered an extra set of the sticks because I want to see if I can mod them onto a PS5 controller - but they're so comfortable and insanely grippy. I've never used a thumbstick before where my thumb just does not move off the stick whilst using it.

Leadjoy really surprised me! I've ordered the PS style layout controller from them too (Saber Plus) as I do prefer the PS stick layout - but that won't arrive for a week or two and I've been really happy with the Xeno Plus. The Saber Plus also goes from 4 back buttons to just 2 - but has the extra 2 shoulder buttons which I think is my preferred approach for additional buttons (4 in total, 2 rear, 2 shoulder). I've found that 4 rear almost gets in the way and buttons on the side of the controller (BB Index buttons or the Scuf Omega) are just too easy to press all the time.

Leadjoy's software is really good too, I like that it has tournament firmware baked right in so whenever we play tournaments and we have to do a PC check it's a 10s job to share screen and just show the tournament firmware. At it's price it's really hard to recommend something else.

It's thinner than the G7 pro, which may be an issue for some especially on the grips. Good TMR sticks though, seem to be the best of the TMR tech currently.

You've never tried KontrolFreeks then, the Playstation version fits nicely on GameSir controllers like the G7 Pro and Cyclone 2. The Galaxy crystal edition is especially grippy.

I have a KF on my Dualsense Edge, I've used KontrolFreeks ever since they were available for 360 pads!

The Leadjoy sticks genuinely feel a level above when it comes to the grip. You can grab a set of them from the rainforest for 13 quid (they offer 2 different sets) - and set 1 is the insanely grippy ones.

I got the Wolverine Pro 3 as an alternative to a DualSense Edge when it wasn’t playing nicely with windows. It’s not worth £200, regret buying it tbh

Saber Plus arrived on Friday so had a chance to use it Friday night and Saturday for a bit.

I think it does a lot of things really well (especially for the price) - but I'm not a fan of the triggers or how the top of the controller is shaped. When I hold a regular Dualsense my entire finger can be around the top of the controller and hover over the bumpers/triggers, means I can quickly press either but also means I can spam R2 really quickly.

The Saber Plus is quite narrow at the top so the tip of my finger almost extends past the triggers onto the extra shoulder buttons. It means I can't really spam the triggers like I normally would and I have to angle my finger a little more to press the bumpers/triggers. I also noticed I was firing single fire weapons a lot slower than usual.

If you've got smaller hands I reckon it's a really good choice. ABXY buttons are nice, sticks are the, now usual, JS13 Pro TMR sticks so feel really responsive and perfectly linear. Back buttons are fantastic, similar to the Xeno Plus with the feel and placement.

Honestly I think Leadjoy have got 2 fantastic options available right now. The Xeno Plus is probably the one I like the most (despite my usual preference of a PS stick layout) but I'm sure if I stuck with the Saber Plus I'd get used to it in no time. I mainly prefer the Xeno Plus because it allows me to hold a controller how I normally would.

The pricing is also great, Xeno Plus for 60 quid on Amazon and Saber Plus for $60 right now from Gadget Hyper (with around a week time for delivery).
 
Genuinely think this Royal2 version might be the nicest design available for the G7 Pro 8k. It's also the first one I've had that hasn't had some form of problem/issue (8k not working, right analogue stick grinding, additional shoulder button broken) so I wonder if they've made some QC improvements.
