Decent game controller?

Ordered a Void Gaming Genesis controller from Amazon Japan as they don't have it available here in the UK or in Europe - price wasn't too bad (£92.64 inc. import duties) for a controller that gets really strong reviews.

Need to get myself one of those Ikea peg boards to store all the controllers I have at this point! I rotate quite a bit at the minute between my DS Edge, Marius PS5 and Leadjoy Saber Plus - but I'll still use the G7 Pro 8k from time to time when I fancy the Xbox layout (and that Royal2 design is lovely).

I've been reading reports of a number of people being banned from Games using the Gamesir line of controllers. Anyone heard much more about that?
There was discussion around them being banned for the pro league for Call of Duty but it was whole lot of nothingness.

It comes down to the “jitter” setting that Gamesir implemented (and then removed) and then also the ability to use macros. Apex is issuing bans for anyone using the ‘jitter’ filters especially as, for Gamesir, you’ve got to find and use a really old firmware version.

The macro one I do find a little frustrating that it’s even available on a controller like this - but it really is no different to what is available on modern mice, keyboards etc. at this point.

Any tournament or event will mandate tournament firmware is used (which exists on Gamesir, Leadjoy, Void Gaming etc.) so there’s no too many concerns on that.

I only just learnt about tournament firmwares when I was reading about it.
I guess that disables certain functions of the controller to stop any unfair advantages etc?

Yeah, the only controller I regularly use that has it is the Leadjoy Saber Plus. Tournament firmware removes any macros and disables the RC filter (although I think this particular one is a Gamesir problem, not an issue with Leadjoy or Void for their 'RC filters').

Interesting! Thanks for the info, it hadn't even crossed my mind really.

Yeah, I think a lot of it gets blown up because there's a bit of incorrect information floating around - but at the same time it's not great that there has to be tournament firmware. I guess it's the same as tournament firmware for the Wooting keyboards and Razer/Logitech ones to guarantee there's no macros at events. Still, you'd think they'd make all these things without including something that could be deemed as breaking the rules.

A lot of games now can spot it too and ban based off that, CS bans users who use SOCD in their games and the Finals recently banned a bunch of people who were using a melee macro to make their quick melee animation run faster than humanly possible.

A couple of weeks ago I bought a Scuff Omega for my PS5 (Only for MP FPS games) and so far I'm really liking it. I debated whether to get a Duelsense Edge but I really like the clicky D-pad and face buttons on the Scuff over the standard squishy ones on the Duelsense Edge.

I did opted for the white version so will be interesting to see how it ages.

You can get clicky facebutton kits for the DS Edge and they're fairly easy to install (40 minute job) - but if you're not overly confident taking a controller apart then I get the appeal of the Scuf controllers.

My only issue with the Omega was the SAX buttons being in a pretty useless place for how easy they were to press and the TMR sticks (Hallpi) aren't anywhere near as good as the JS13s / RS13 TMR sticks you can get now. It's such an odd thing for Scuf/Corsair to cut costs on.

I bought an 8bitdo ultimate wireless 2 (something like that), after my Xbox Elite 2 gave in the ghost. The only criticism I have of it is that it doesn't feel as nice to the touch as the elite 2. However, functionality I prefer it and it's a fraction of the price.

Been using the Void Genesis for a few days since it arrived last Friday (4 day delivery from Japan to the UK is pretty great!) and it's fantastic. Shape is great (PS4 stick layout), 2 extra buttons on the back, the shoulders and 2 additional face buttons below ABXY (which I've not used yet).

Usual suite of features with clicky buttons, instant trigger toggles and 8k polling - but the software (Void Link) is fantastic. I enjoyed Gamesir's software for the G7 Pro 8k, the Leadjoy software was also very good - but the Void software feels like it's a tier above.

I do think that most people should, if they want a 'competitive' PC controller, either buy the G7 Pro 8K if they want an Xbox layout or the Void Genesis if they want a PS layout. You can spend more and get a custom one built with a Marius board, Heliumstrike (formerly hyperstrike) and Firebird in a DS4 shell but you're easily looking at 250+ for these custom builds. They're another tier above but I'm not really sure they're ever worth the 200 quid extra you'll be spending vs. what you can get with the G7 Pro 8K or Void Genesis.

Only slight downside to the Genesis is the default sticks that come with it, I didn't find them as good as either the standard PS5 sticks or the Leadjoy sticks - but the shape is all consistent and it's a very easy pad to open up so swapped the sticks to Leadjoy Sticks and now it's perfect!

My requirements are a good dpad, and as low input lag as possible. I need to start researching the options. Right now I use a DS4 controller, but battery never lasts long and microusb is horrible.
