Decent generic 12VHPWR adapter cable?

So can you buy decent 12VHPWR adapter cables, like the ones you get with some 4000 series cards?

I see lots of the cables for specific PSUs but are there any that you can just plug 6/8-pin PCIe cables into?
I see Akasa do one and it's a right-angle one, which seems like a good idea, except it looks like it would be impossible to remove as you wouldn't be able to reach the release tab.

I really think its a lot better to buy the one for your PSU. Not like it's expensive, considering the fire risk if you get it wrong!!

I mean if melts and damages your PSU, who do you blame? At least if the are one manufacturer there is no argument.

What if your PSU doesn't have a specific cable? Because that's absolutely a thing (I have 2 of them).

That would've been my first choice, but it's not an option. The other option is to spend £150 on a new PSU.

What PSU have you got?

CableMod do extensions but need 3 x 8/6 pin or you may be lucky and they have a dedicated replacement cable for your PSU.

You can check on their website for compatible cables.

I've got this dilemma, just had a b grade 4070s delivered but it doesn't have the adapter cable :(

So trying to find a reputable adapter but all the ones on the rainforest do not look great, so think I'll be returning the gpu.

Corsair rm850 and the cable is £30 posted on its own.

I had the same. Ordered a B Grade 4070, which was supposed to be an 8-pin, but what they sent was a 4070 Ti which needed a 16-pin and they didn't include the adaptor. Hence why I was looking for one.
Did consider getting a new PSU that included one.

Ended up sending it back because I realised the 4070 Ti they sent was a little bigger than the 4070 I ordered and thus wouldn't fit.

So wait you could've got a free upgrade? :p which '4070' was it :D

I'm going to send mine back too I think, I assume they didn't offer a partial refund to buy a cable etc or anything?

Yeah, was tempting to keep the 4070 Ti, but would've needed an adaptor cable or new PSU and even then it wouldn't fit in the case.
I didn't ask about a partial refund or anything as that wouldn't help the "not fitting" issue.

Personally I wouldn't trust any adapter other than nvidia's or a proper cable for the psu, it's just too much of a risk. If you don't have the nvidia adapter I would buy a new psu that has the correct cable and doesn't use an adapter.

Corsair AX1200
Have checked a number of times and they don't seem to do one for my version as far as I can tell.
AX1200 looks like a stand out PSU in the range as it uses some type 3 cables and others that are specific.

So you want confirmation from Corsair idealy that this cable will work with the AX1200.

Cablemod custom configurator with this PSU seems a bit broken.

In Corsair's legacy cable compatibility chart, the AX1200 appears to use custom PCIE cables, so I suspect the type 4 is not compatible.
