Defense Grid

Hardest one for me so far was the one 4-5 from last. Has mutiple entry points for them to spawn and 3 lanes down to get orbs and 3 lanes up to exit . Even with 5 temps and lots of guns i just coudnt do it . Luckily it bugged out and left me 2 orbs that didnt show on map so cleared it but went back and played it a few times and could never clear it .

That one can be done pretty easily.

This is how I did it.

White = cannon towers
yellow = gun towers
lavander = missle tower

Start with putting the cannon towers at the top and gun towers just opposite. You want to focus on upgrading everything to tier 3.

I think Persil was on about 'Turnabout'. With judicious tower placement, you can force them all through the same entry/exit point, negating the difficulty of multiple entries.

'Waste Disposal' was the only one I couldn't get to grips with - it was a real 'speed bump' in the difficulty curve, and harder than the ones that followed. But even that was fun, which is the mark of a great game :)

^I was going to post that when I saw this thread bumped :p I did all the maps with just maxed out gun towers and the odd temporal. I've always wound Cannons and Conc launchers useless when I've tried them. The last map was a nightmare at first without good planning.
 
Cannons have a use, in a few maps. Concussions, Infernos are pretty much pointless. Teslas are completely pointless, Command's are useful for getting high scores, Laser's pointless, Missiles obviously useful.
 
Hmm i've never used Command Towers but since I've been chasing my mates high scores and not using them, perhaps it's time to begin experimenting.

yeah, I just don't use infernos at all now... but I did put lots of conc towers in for the awesome effect though :)
 
Yeah conc towers do look pretty, i sometimes put them in for a sort of fireworks efffect, maybe it distracts the aliens while the guns actually kill them :p
 
The game would be a lot better if each consecutive use of a tower-type made the new construction 3% less powerful than the last of that type.

At the moment it rewards NOT experimenting with new tower types -- but rather banging cannons and 'guns' everywhere if the 'tesla' doesn't immediately, obviously, blow up stuff!


When I played I at least tried to use all the tower types -- out of some wierd kind of 'I really should give it a go' principle!

Tesla is an PBAoE tower that works best when it has time to charge up. Meaning, it works best when it discharges all its power on the first enemy it sees then continues to fire weak charges at the full horde. Its a flawed tower by design and sucks so bad its funny.

I always thought Turnabout was a ridiculously easy mission. Waste Disposal on the other hand was the level i got stuck on the last time i played this game... wish me luck.

*gets 42814 on my first attempt* funny... however i have absolutely no idea wtf i was doing, my path was all over the place.
