Most likely a CAT C/D car if it's got no history then? If you intend on selling the car, then yes, get a book. Can be found cheap on the bay.

Dealer servicing will help people get passed the thoughts of no previous history, but it'll still be harder to sell as people who typically buy warm/hot hatches are going to be looking back at how the car has been looked after.

Of course its worth it - without a service book the car is worthless, with a missing first 40k of services its slightly less worthless.

I do hope you didnt pay much for the car, as the next owner certainly wont..

my god they saw you coming! Surely thats at the very top of the market for a good car in immaculate condition with a booming service history.

If it's so easy to get a replacement copy why didn't the dealer(?) do this for you? When I purchased my wifes car it didn't have a service book but he had a letter from Southall Honda stating the service dates and then got me a copy of the book from them.

How can Anybody spend 4 grand on summit that old without History.
Oh no sorry it does have History it was Cat D ! :(

To much Epic fail in this thread for me.

You should be able to get the first few services re-stamped as there will be a record of them on Fords computers

So even though every single person advised you not to buy it, you still went ahead and bought it? Why?! I'm guessing it was because it was really really shiny and the salesman said it suited you...

Have you even checked the MOT's to make sure it's not clocked? I'm guessing no, since you didn't even know what a clocked car was.
