So why do you now regret buying it?

Because its a complete rip off?

Why ask for advice on a total rip off deal, receive unanimous advice that its a rip off deal then buy it anyway, only to express regret later? I simply dont get it.

Its purchases like this which lead to people being so forceful of opinions in the future. It really does fly in the face of the assumption that people tend to know what they are doing when buying..

A friend of mine, one of my best friends actually bought an 04 plate ST170 in black with 115k miles on the clock with a FSH and I believe 1 previous owner for less than £4k, about £3.5k I think.

So £4k for one without any real history and a CAT D ...you got bent over there pal :(

Without sounding rude, you had a whole thread containing people warning you about the car (and that's without anyone actually seeing it) saying that it was not worth buying, yet you still bought it. :o:confused:

I'm guessing you are having engine issues or it's been poorly repaired in the past?

Well Im a stupid noob to be honest and rushed into it for the simple sake of ease because I couldnt be bothered looking around properly.

Yes its stupid, its cost me dearly and enough to **** me off all week, what you guys are hearing is only half the problems I'm having with the car. I wont spill the whole story just to amuse you, because I feel stupid enough already and it's cost me dearly.

Dunno what the hell todo now :(
Please do, it might make my purchase look slightly better :p
I've spent over £3000 on a car I rushed into and overpaid for.
And that's only half of what I could spend if I fixed everything..

Join the club! ...if I fixed absolutely everything that isn't 100% perfect on my 540i at BMW prices, it'd cost me more than the car did :D

Well, to be fair, at least you've admitted it. Tell us what's happened and people on here might be able to help you.

The only saving grace is that you appear to have bought it from a trader, so you have more "comeback" than if you bought it privately.

Indeed, if you tell us (well not me, don't take car buying advice from me :p) the specifics, someone might be able to suggest a course of action.

Ok so you made a mistake, an expensive one, but you aren't alone in that ...and you could very well have some legal comeback.

Well it started soon as I done about 100 miles in the car, engine lost all accelaration, loads of noise from the front engine stuttering, 30mph max all the way back to the garage.

2 days later he tells me that the spark plug wells were full of water from when they pressure washed it. Was exactly the same when I toke it home, so toke it back and he said the spark plugs were worn down. ... He told me it would have a full service, so I'm not what his idea or my idea of a full service was. But alas it was 'alrite' since then.

But I've noticed that randomly it feels like the car wont pull and feels like the car cant breathe. So rang a local chap to come and have a look at it with his Ford computer.

This is whats on the list:

02 sensor heater circuit
Bank 1 sensor 1

02 sensor heater circuit
Bank 1 sensor 1

Cylinder 1 misfire (Managed to clear)

Lack of h02s11 switches (Managed to Clear)
sensor indicates lean

Camshaft position timing over advanced.

I would have been aware that something was wrong, but the engine management light and the air bag light was removed...

Asked the guy to see if it indeed did have a service as agreed, he toke out the air filter and said the car has prob NEVER been serviced in its life, the thing was filthy.

Just to throw something else in, he said it sounded as if the thrust bearing on the clutch was on its way out?

I know i've dearly messed up and im bloody sorry I didnt listen to you chaps on here, I wont be making this costly and stupid mistake again!

So what would be your next course of action, other than taking the car back down there?

if you got it from a garage, dont you have any protection from the consumer credit act etc?

You need to take that car back ASAP. Don't wait. The longer you wait, the less come back you have.

Before you do, it may well be advisable to call the Citizen's Advice Bureau and see what they have to say about this.

I think it's entirely possible for you to get your money back, but tbh you might have to fight for it because the kind of trader that sells a car that doesn't even make it home, isn't going to be the guy to give back your money.

Don't let the trader fob you off and tell you some techno jargon and how it's an easy fix. Tell him you'll settle for nothing less than your money back.

What's the traders name?
