Delivery with DPD.

Been waiting in all day for the full build I've ordered, but the delivery guy just knocked on the main entrance door and immediately left. Does DPD not phone the customer or anything? It's a 2 grand system and I'm a little worried about it. The image they gave even has the sign pointing to my flat in full view. I have Amazon drivers phoning me up if they can't find my front door to deliver a feather duster. Is there no way to tell DPD to phone me up or attach notes to the delivery if they have trouble?

Don't think DPD generally gets the customer phone number depending on service used (also depends if the sender has even included the recipient's phone number) and lately seems only about 20-25% of the drivers cares. Several times recently I've found the DPD AI chat more useful than the human options frustratingly where the customer service person has either simply lacked options or been too thick or lazy to deal with certain requests while the AI has understood right away...

I think DPD must vary a lot as I've always had good experience with them, from the tracking to the actual delivery and am always happy to see if a product is being sent via DPD.
 
Don't worry about it, if it's not there by the time you get to it they've left you a lovely picture proving they just dumped it on a doorstep to get you refunded/replaced.
I'd like to make it very clear that my stuff isn't there, the driver needs a PIN to release the stuff. They simply knocked and put the stuff back in the van (I hope). They're coming back tomorrow.

I guess I have to camp outside my building a half hour before the tracker says they'll arrive? I just hope the stuff is fine when it eventually arrives.

Usually yes, but I've had drivers dump and run with quite expensive stuff on occasion, they don't even bother to knock or ring the bell.

So wait, they've taken the photo on the doorstep, then packed it back in the van again? Unlikely.

Either:

a) It's been nicked
b) This thread is part of an elaborate setup so you can later claim it's been nicked.
 
happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I bought a iMac Pro at a grand, wasn't expecting delivery that day so when I was pulling in front of my house, it was sitting at my front door waiting! :eek:

Luckily it was fine, but when I went inside there wasnt even a calling card through the letterbox!

Never had this happen before with DPD, was shocked!
 
Was chatting to a guy the other day who used to work for them in the office, or something, so a pinch of salt needed, but he said the drivers haven't had a pay increase in around a decade.

My recent DPD deliveries have all had grumpy drivers who have said one word with barely amy eye contact.

So i guess the company has taken the obligatory route of all couriers, the race to the bottom. Shame as they were actually good.
 
As long as it arrives with no problem tomorrow, then it's all good. Just a little disappointing there was nary a phone call.

I'm absolutely camping outside a good bit of time ahead though, as stupid as it might be necessary.

There are 4-5 DPD drivers who do this area regularly and one is good if a bit grumpy (probably due to the amount of heavy stuff I order) the other 3-4 are very grump and just can't be bothered - I had one sender who made a mess of my address, but it was still perfectly possible to work out with any amount of intelligence and actually giving a ****, and they were just failing the drop not even bothering to try.

How much that is on them or how much due to the company I don't know but even if the organisation issues are that bad I'd still make more effort in things like that so as to minimise inconvenience for the customer. One way or another it is no wonder this country is going to ****.
 
Another delivery person came. I left a note on the main entrance pointing the way to my flat around the back. I don't think they even bothered to go that far though, judging from the picture they took of them in the car parking area.

Bit miffed now tbh. I was expecting the delivery to be the annoying part of this purchase, but this DPD company is going above and beyond. It's my own fault for not camping outside for a good half hour before the van was to arrive I suppose!

Is there nothing Overclockers can do? I really am concerned with the idea of fragile PC components ratting around in a van for 2 days now.
 
That sucks, but outside of moaning to OC, and them moaning to DPD, and nothing changing anyway, camping outside is the only thing to do. All the couriers are crap.

To be honest I am surprised you didn't wait outside this time!
 
They vary enormously over here as well. The regular chap is great and comes right to our door to knock. One of his vacation covers CBA’d and called from the centre of the next village claiming his phone didn’t have GPS and the van didn’t have satnav.

I found him being lectured by several locals, including our old mayor and learned some French word combinations that neither school nor Duolingo had discussed.
 
Had basically the same experience with DPD today, except with a return. The driver got out of his van, knocked, took a few steps back, took a photo of the door and then headed back to his van. I then open the door, shouted over to him, and he just ignored me, got in and drove off. Got the whole thing on camera.

Customers services couldn't give a stuff. Their answer? We will be back tomorrow, so prepare to rearrange your whole day around us again!

Easily the worst delivery company around here. The depot is in Wolverhampton, which probably explains a lot TBF.

The delivery fella had something like 4.9 stars with glowing compliments, and I lost track of time having to constantly refresh the DPD app to see what delivery he's on (he was something like 15 deliveries behind last I checked, then I got a notification 10 minutes later that he left). I truly will have to just sit outside for a while tomorrow. There's no danger of the parts or monitor being damaged I hope, these kinds of things are usually packed pretty well.

Well, whatever, as long as the stuff is fine tomorrow, I'll soon forget about it.
 
The expectation is because they provide live tracking then they expect you to be ready at the door when they arrive. Hense the quick knock, wait 10 seconds and then bugger off if you don't answer immediately, with the assumption being you aren't at home.
