DELL 2407 Arrives at OcUK!!

Debatable (2407 uses the same panel), and anyway it has bad input lag so no good for me with games.

The Samsung has it, I haven't seen enough reviews of the new Dell to see if their implementation is any better with the panel... We shall see.

Just noticed that Overclockers are showing that the 2407 comes with 4 year next business day exchange warranty, but Dell UK are only showing three years on their site  . Are you getting a special deal or has someone got the details wrong for the entry?

All DELL Monitors purchased VIA OcUK come with a 4yr warranty. So OcUK is both cheaper and you get a better warranty too. :)

I'm hoping to get one of these in three months time. I use my PC mostly for playing games so i'm hoping the "DELL 2407" has no serious problems wrong with it.

I was considering getting a NEC LCD20WGX2 20.1" Widescreen however after seeing this im tempted to spend the extra and get this, does anyone know if it is good when it comes to gaming? as thats what I use my PC for 90% of the time.

BeHardware reviewed the Acer 2416W here which uses the same 6ms PVA panel as the Dell 2407WFP :)

mmmmmm looks real nice .seriously though apart from different base and quicker response time no real difference to my 2405 ? is there or am i missing something

Ah well placed my order now along with a z-5500 speaker set. Can finaly wave goodbye to my aging 19" Sony E400 and Creative DTT2200. Thanks for the info here guys it was helpful. :)

Hiya Baddass,

To be fair when Blu-Ray/HD DVD first launch that won't be an issue will it..? The last I heard was that they weren't turning on the 'downscaling' flag on initial content to not completely annoy the early adopters of HD sets. Only later on will they turn it on, meaning that in the absence of the PVP, HD content will get 'down-scaled' to DVD resolution, which for a lot of people is perfect acceptable on a decent progressive-scan player.

it wont allow HD content over the DVI connection. There's a good article about it on BeHardware here:

There were repots from Japan that the 2407 didn't support 1080 HDCP, I hope an English (or American) review can clear that up  ...
As our dear friend Baddass is (hopefully) still loyal owner of the Dell 2405FPW, I guess that one friendly review by him for the community would be really nice. :D ... and OCUK may consider to offer him nice upgrade path :D

Yeah, as Japan/US Dell2407 release is tagged by numerous problems, apart from the HDCP (DVI implementation, blurry text, colour uniformity/banding ... etc). Hopefully we will see here, in Europe, new revision which should be OK. This is another reason why we need honest, not pretentious and not-biased review of this screen.

i would be more than happy to do a full review and answer peoples concerns if OcUK would like to lend me a 2407WFP for a little while :D Maybe Gibbo can help us out :) As you've said igors, there's been a few issues reported with it's release in Japan and then the USA, i'd very much like the chance to test one of these and a comparison against the 2405FPW would be very interesting i'm sure
