Dell, safe bet?

Hello,

I need to buy a new monitor and upgrade from my samsung 930BF 19". Main reason is the lack of the extra space and widescreen, cause I develop code for uni and scrolling through source code doesnt help. However, I LOVE games and whatever I buy must be gaming gear :D.

so now I am very confused with the asus 22" having problems (although it looks very nice on paper and style) and I dont know what direction to go.

I am reading everyone is happy with dell especially the 24" one but does it do good in games with the slower response? isnt it a bit old and will get replaced soon with something better?

I really dont know and any input from you expert people will help.

I played cs at Uni and with professional manager from eol. I tested both the NEC 20WGX2 and Dell 2407 and I havnt seen any apparant ghosting, though their might be very tiny amount of it and it doesnt disturb your game flow. So i wd say go with Dell 2407 rev 03. NEC might have good colors but Dell is bigger but it doesnt mean Dell has bad colors. Seeing both in action as I bought both of them together and personally tested them I wd say go with the Dell if u just use it for games and program code. Movies also look better in it compared to the NEC, which is horrible for movies.

Thanks for replys. Cash is there cause I kept away from upgrades for like 2 years now :( But now as a big screen will help me for REAL i need to spot the best and pick it up. Just like that.
 
Just got the 2407 delivered today, lovely screen, thats coming from an HP 2335 23", razor sharp and just marvellous. I to was tempted by the 22" cheaper models but somethig like this will last years so in my book its worth another 250 quid.
 
btw how about the new HD stuff going around. How well this dell performs? and what features go with it?

ps: I dont know much about HD, but I need a monitor which will support the new HD content coming rapidly nowadays
 
I too was in the same boat couldn't decide between the 22" screens but I have just ordered a 2407 today :) I decided I couldn't pass it up when my suppler made me an offer I couldn't refuse even though its costing a lot more it should last me for years...
