I'm planning on moving from my 2 monitor setup (24" and 20") to a single larger resolution monitor. Trying to decide whether to go for this or a 27" 2560x1400 model.

Has anyone tried both to compare?
 
same for me bud... well abit different, i want 120hz but really wide without getting multi monitors

but as far as i know, their is not any of these size/res monitors that are 120hz, or am i wrong on this?

I think you're right unfortunately. As far as I know there aren't any monitors with resolutions larger than 1920x1080 which are 120Hz?

Having said that I personally couldn't notice much difference between my 120Hz monitor and my 60Hz one so I don't think it's something that would worry me too much.
 
i have not tryed 120hz is o cant comment on that, i play a lot more RTS,RPG and MMO than FPS so maybe 60hz maybe fine for my needs

but if i can get this sized monitor with 120hz thats a bigger plus :)

I have both a DEll 2714HM and a Dell 2913WM side by side....what do you want to know?

which one do you prefer to game on?
can you see the difference between 2560x144o and 2560x1080 height wise?
which one would you buy again?
do you think 3x 29 would be to much width wise? thinking of going 3x of one of these

It depnds, FPS are better on the 2913, others on the 2713. I am still deciding for myself to be honest.

Both, I bought them for different reasons though. The 2913 to primarily watch video and use as a secondary screen for research and the super-wide screen allows me to compare texts directly on the same screen, something I could not do so effectively when I used two 2713s.

3 side by side would be huge width wise...possibly too wide.

one last thing could you post a picture of same game on one then the other?

no action required just simple picture of landscape would do just to see what you lose and gain height/width wise

+1 would be good to see. How do you find the matte AG coating on the latest generation of Dells? I currently have an Alienware AW2310 and a Dell 2007WFP and find the AG coating slightly intrusive especially when reading web pages with a white background where the speckle effect of it appears more pronounced? How do the latest models fair as I'd heard Dell had reduced the AG coating on their newer monitors?

Though it's slightly unusual and has less overall desktop space I'm actually thinking I'd personally prefer going for the Dell U2913WM as I worry I might struggle with the default text size on the U2713HM. That and the dimensions of the U2913WM are basically identical to 2 17" monitors side by side which would be great for productivity as well. I used to have a triple monitor setup (1 24" and 2 20" models) but I found it too much hassle and productivity wise I ended up sitting at a weird angle when using the side monitors so I've gone back to just 2. To be honest I'd ideally like to go back to just a single large high-res monitor as I don't think the multi-monitor setup really suits my needs for either gaming or productivity.

On the topic of gaming given the choice which one would you use? The 27" or the 29"?

I want one. Hard to justify as I bought a 27' a few months ago.

Wish I could see one live with my own eyes, would make the justification so much easier.
