*** Dell UltraSharp U2410 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor @ £447.99 inc VAT ***

Oh u need 250 posts, lol, I was happy enough with the free next day delivery.

Now, time to find the members market :) Looked for it before, either I didnt see it or it doesn't show. Be back here if I cant find it;)

Are there any news on U2710? I've got a 26'' TN panel and would like to switch to something more serious, but no way I am going down in screen size.

Supposedly coming in the next month or two. One thing to be aware of, whenever it does show up, is the panel may NOT be IPS based..

I've also been keeping half an eye on that (not that there's been much to see so far). If it's not IPS-based, I'm not interested. Also, if the resolution is the same as the 24", I'm not interested.

What do people reckon: will the U2710 have a resolution boost over the U2410?

Probalby not, such a panel doesn't exist right now at least.

Although, LGD doesn't have any 27" parts in their existing catalog, so it will be a completely new panel if it's IPS based. Dell has a history of mixing Samsung and LGD parts in their previous lineups, or even different revisions of the same model, so it being IPS is far from a safe bet.

Let us know how it goes, of course. :D I'm 97% certain I'll be getting one of these, but, as I said before, I just have to wait until I've finished moving house. :p
Well, just in case any of you were thinking about ordering - Mine still says "In our warehouse queue" even though it was ordered early Thursday morning  I'm hoping it's actually been sent, otherwise I'll be very disappointed - not least because I'll have to go through some major inconveniences for someone to be home on Monday..

I would hope OC would change it to a Saturday delivery if they screwed up and didn't send this next day for Friday.. I guess I'll be finding out. :(

Picked mine up already;) Been on it for the last few hours.. very impressed, box is a lot smaller than I thought it would be. Not like that battered box on the unboxing vid on youtube.

Different feel to my old NEC, colours look great to me though.

Very happy.

Sorry if I cant provide any more useful info, I dont usually do any benchmarking on monitors. If you let me know of some simple ones I can run I'll do my best.

Would be great if you could have a bash in a few fast paced games and give us your thoughts in normal vs game mode

If the reviews end up being decent I think I will replace my 2405 with this monitor. On paper it looks excellent and so far nothing has made me want to upgrade. I will give it a month to see what the users think and see what issues arise.

Sorry for the lack of news was busy levelling my wow toon.

I tried CS Source & COD 4 on it, it seemed fine, source was fine, but with COD 4 I think my FX card is probably the thing thats preventing it being 100% smooth (But I shove everything on high setting). But tbh I dont really notice any problems, colours do seem better than my old one.

I just googled my old NEC 20WMGX2 apparently it minimal or no input lag, so when I get home, I'll plug that in aswell and run that timer app and take some side by side pictures.

Well, the U2410 arrived today finally. Unfortunately I noticed, pretty much immediately, that it had a stuck red pixel almost smack bang in the middle of the screen, which sucks immensely as I'm otherwise pretty happy with things so far. I'll give software a day or two to try and unstick it before I exchange it. Based on what I've seen so far I'll probably stick with the U2410, just not this particular one. Shame, as the backlighting seems ok, and I really like it overall.

Right now I've just done some input lag tests. Now I just need to add up the numbers (there's about 200 photos!) and I'll post my results with some pics. If anyone wants to know anything else then just ask away..

Very lucky the premium pixel guarantee means you'll have no bother getting it exchanged :)

Dell U2410 Input lag

I shot 300 pictures and had to ditch 20 as they couldn't be read. That left 280, with 3 timers each, so that's 840 measurements. With all that out of the way, here's what I got..

Highs and Lows
13 of 280 frames had no real input lag, so that's what.. about 5%? Bit disappointing as it means there's at least 1/3rd of a frame lagged over 90% of the time. As for maximum lag, that was made difficult because I definitely caught the Lagom and Flatpanels.dk timers skipping 2 frames (or 31ms) ahead sometimes. What I can say is that I only noticed 2 frames of difference about a dozen times, and I'm pretty confident the timer can be blamed for at least half of these (if not all). However, even with these peak differences, the timer was never ahead for 2 frames in more than one third of the picture (see worst case example in picture).

That means the peak lag was never more than 1.33 frames (or 22ms if you want times). Of course, if I'd only measured 1 section of the screen I'd never have known that the other 2 sections matched and the difference wasn't 2 whole frames. So, worst case, the peak lag should be around 1.3 frames, but may be less thanks to dodgy timers. If people are reporting 2 whole frames of lag in game mode it's likely because they're only measuring a smaller section of the screen. You really need to measure more sections. Infact we're all probably better off with something like Refresh Rate Multitool ( http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1423433 ) which gets rid of numbers entirely :)

Overall Average
Here's the bit that kinda matters most. I added all 840 measurements, then divided it all to get the average lag per frame Vs a CRT. Obviously these numbers are approximate, but should hopefully give a decent idea.

Min 0 frames (0ms). Average 0.56 frames (9.4ms), Peak 1.33 frames (or 22ms)

I just wanted to make sure for myself that this was viable for gaming, and it does this very well I have to say.. It's got monitors like the HP beat in this area until if/when they add a game through mode to their firmware which can turn in similar performance..

^^ Geez nice test luckily I didnt get to do my test, I wouldve felt a bit silly doing an amatuer test followed by your 'proper' test.

Isnt the pixel policy direct with dell? And its if even 1 pixel they will change it?

I should really check mine out properly for any stuck/dead pixels.

I'm very happy with mine, sounds like Mkay is too bar the pixel.
