Dell Vostro 1500

Well, its here, and a quick trip to device manager proves its exactly as ordered. :)

Only had a quick look due to being at work, but first impressions are very good. Its big (1700), but not as heavy as i expected, which is a good thing. I went for the mid range 1700,(T7250, 2gb mem) but upgraded to GT gfx and Bluetooth.

Vista looks very nice. System feels quick and responsive. I am a big fan of XP, but this is nice.

The only downside is that this thing is likely to convince me that my aging P4 desktop system needs replacing :D

Overall, first impressions are very good. Like everything else though, time will tell.

Hi,

What screen was that, mines been in pre-production for 2 days now, with the 1900*1200 screen.

Regards

Al

I went for the 1440 X 900. I felt the higher res would be too small for me in everyday tasks. Should also keep framerate up when gaming.

The res seems about right for the size of screen IMO. Everybody is different though.

Got my Vostro 1500 today, initial impression are good. Nice solid feel, very good keyboard. i went for the Truelife screen and glad I did, it look really good.

:) will take a more indepth look later and try a few games out. :D

I got just over 24 seconds in the 1 million when i last tried it (not entirely sure, I haven't tested it since a few days after i got it), it keeps crashing if i try a second attempt for some reason. My processor speed is 1.8ghz.

Vostro 1700 T7250 2.0ghz - 27.222 secs for 1mb Pi :)

On battery power, no performance mods as yet :D

Just out of interest, it took my P4 desktop machine over a minute to do the same test.

Ooh blimey. Used my Vostro on the battery for the first time in a few weeks tonight. I've got the buzzing from the screen when it's at anything other than the brightest setting now. How annoying.

Got my inspiron 1720 the other day. I got it with the 2Ghz processor, 2Gb ram, 8600GT and the 1920x1200 screen. I've reinstalled vista and only really played cs source so far. I'm getting >80fps at 1900x1200 with max detail. It looks amazing at this res!
My mate got the same laptop at the same time as me and he was saying bioshock runs very well indeed so I'm very happy all round. Just installing C&C3 at the moment.

Its a faulty inverter. Mine had the same problem.

Called Dell to report the problem and got sent a brand new replacement. No issues with it now.

Right, my laptop is always plugged in and the performance is High. I went to the advanced settings and ensured everything was on 100% on the Processor section.

What else could i have missed?
