Windows (and I'm sure Linux) do have options for changing default font and text size, and there is always the DPI setting to mess around with. Some of my relatives find even 1280x1024 too small so I've had to increase the size of... pretty much everything :)

theres zillions of good games itll run......

Theres only a handful it wont.
Obviously a lot will need to have effects turned down/off etc, but older games will run spot on etc.

how new is that? if its pretty new it wont be running very high at all, id take a guess at lowish settings tbh......
NFS games always were full of eye candy, and the 8400 is quite a lowish end card(though good for a laptop)

Remember that the 8400m gs (laptop) is a downsized, down-clocked version compared to its desktop counterpart.

Same goes for the 8600m GT ect...

True but look at his specs:

intell 1.6ghz Dual core (mines 2.1ghz core 2 duo)
Nvidia 8400GS 256mb DX10 card (running with XP not vista so i don't have DX10) --- (mines vista so its DX10 and I think mines 256mb not sure though)
2 gigs of 333mhz DDR2 ram (2GB 667 MHz DDR2)

So basiclly my specs are better its just I think his 8400gs is better than my 8400gs.

dx10 is a gimmick on current games tbh, plus a 8400GS isnt exactly going to excel at the fancy features DX10 is supposed to help with.
The processor wont matter, since a 1.6 is perfectly adequate for running NFS really, especially when the bottleneck is the card.

Your specs are better(assuming its one of the games that isnt a dog on vista) BUT
your card is the crippling factor, especially since i think infact the 8400GS on vostros only have 128mb, and its most likely clocked slower than desktop counterpart.
Iv got the 8600m GT and its only got ddr2 :(
