Just started playing this today and enjoying it, just killed the Phalanx blob thing.
When I enter world 1 again should I go left at the start or carry on past where he was killed ?

I wish i would have saved some flame bombs for him instead i just ran round stabbing in the back , didnt think he was ever going to die then i started slashing through the big one in the middle and boy did he die a quick death .

The sense of achivment just in that alone has got me hooked for the next level , and this has got to be one of the most difficult games ive played , glad ive started though now :D

Either. Just avoid the red eyes spear knight. He'll usually ass**** you til you're about level 20-30.

Wish i would have seen this last night i was trying to defeat him for about an hour then read the sign on the floor it was early hours and was tierd :)

Im pretty sure its the entrance to 1-5 behind him, so no need to really go that way unless you're going to shoot and run over and over until hes dead for a large souls payoff.

Ouch Miralda hits hard, she killed me so I went and freed Ostrava and went back to try again and she wasnt there ?

Then I fell down the pit, so I go back to get my body and fell down the pit again lol.

Miralda (body form) only appears in a pure white tendancy of the world which currently is being created by the xmas event which is why she was around in the first place. When you died to her i'm assuming you was in body form and the death dropped the world tendancy to just below pure white and hence she won't be around until you put it back to pure white.

Also if you don't like the firebombs (i can't throw them accurately at all) use the turpentine for phalanx it is really good fun with turpentine and a big sword just watching all the blobs die in a swarm of fire.
I'd reccomend holding onto the turpentine and sticky white stuff for pretty much all the bosses if you plan to melee as none of them are really resistant to fire or magic.

Can you go back to nexus anytime to spend your souls or is there set times to go back .
Dont like losing all these souls everytime

Clicking on the archstones (the shining sword thing) which you appear in the world from will send you back to the nexus.
There are a few rare stones you might find which do the same thing. Don't bank on these i think i found a total of 6 in the whole game
Also as mentioned earlier the Evacuate spell will send you straight back.

I didn't bother with any spells at all throughout the whole game i mainly just ate grass and that was it for items, so i always just headed back to click the archstone every time i needed to go to the nexus to use the souls. None of the levels are terribly huge to warrant you not running back to the stone before entering a boss. (Except maybe the 2nd level in valley of defilement, although there is a shortcut there and 2nd level in stonefang tunnel) Since almost every level has a shortcut you can unlock when you do make it to the end.

Finally my biggest reccomendation for anyone new to the game, keep your equipped weight below 50% of max equipped weight and learn to roll. I found it far more effective than having a big sheild since there wasn't a single boss in the game where you couldn't dodge almost all of their attacks by rolling away, while there are many bosses with moves that will crush right through your shield. Also some weapons have nice attacks from the rolling move for easy counterattacks. Only level you can't rely on rolling away from everything and countering is the valley of defilement since theres no room or even worse those sticky horrible horrible swamps. Avoid the trolls with clubs too!

This game is driving me up the wall , im not quitting on it though the sense of achivement just getting to nexus and managing to get some upgrades was worth it :)

I have managed to get through the next level and i found my old body with 6500 souls which was a bonus , but stumbled upon a great big daddy long legs who keeps killing me
Is it possible to kill this yet or is it another one i have to steer clear of for now

You can kill the spider if u have any ranged, ethier weapons or spells

Im the knight and i have the bow and arrow , how do you use it got it in my hand just cannot get the blasted thing to fire :(
Takes me longer to get to the spider than dying by him why oh why do you have to do it all again and before you say i have got the lift working finally

The targetting system only works in the open when im in the tunnel it doesnt lock on so i dont even block his fireballs and spiderweb , this game is fustrating big time and the camera angle has a mind of its own
no wonder this game is so hard for people for as much there is a sense of achivment in this game there is 101 things to **** you off :D

Have some dinner then try again , im defiently going to mash this 8 legged beast in :o i may need to be a higher level what would anyone recommend i should be on by now been on it 16 hours and it feels like im getting no where quick .

There is a small section on the immediate right when u go thru the portal where you can hide and use your bow, his flames wont touch you but the web attack will hit a percentage of the time, you would need to the bow to be in the second weapon slot and make sure the arrows are in the other side.

There are various items that will lower the amount of dmg that you take from fire, like the knight shield? a ring and spells ( water veil).

If your running to melee it then there its about getting the timing down, as it will do fire then 3 ball fire, which if you can roll can be dodged easily then there is its pincer attack which can be blocked if you have a good enough shield, also remember that you get more health when ur in body form but do less dmg.

Edit: also if your getting really frustrated then there is always the youtube vids that show how to defeat them.

The way i dealt with armoured spider was no different to the above at the far back on the right side just as you enter the fog theres a small bit of debris that will cover you from all his attacks. Equip the thiefs ring and get any bow and a bunch of arrows.

Equip the bow press triangle to make it 2 handed, press L1 to go into first person mode.
You can move foward quite far with the ring equipped before the spider knows your there so your ranged damage dosen't get lowered from the distance your firing from.

Fire 1 arrow press L1 to come out of first person mode and sprint back to the safe spot behind the debris he will counter with either a fireball or web. both easily dodged by rolling to either side. Also take note at this distance he only has 2 attacks which are the single fireball and web. You can guage how close you can get to him by noticing when he uses his 3 way fireball attack it will hit the ground at the spot you can pretty much walk up to and not be noticed.

It isnt the bosses im struggling with its the fact its so random how you die on it just defeated the spider walk round the corner defeated the few enemys down tunnel then fell down the hole and ive lost 6400 souls
will i beable to find them again
Cannot do the boss again now im going to have to grind to get that amount for upgrading thats whats cack , most rpg,s you can upgrade on the fly and spend your points that way .waste of a few hours in my book .
Trust the auto save to kick in after you have lost all your souls .

Whenever you die you leave behind a bloodstain normally right where/just before you died, click on it and it returns ALL your lost souls back. The only difficulty is not dying twice in a row because then that really sucks.

Also there are very very few things in the game that require you to drop down so i would keep an eye out and try not to jump down anything unless you are absolutely sure you know whats below you.

When I first started this game I made a royal and was really cautious, always taking it slow, shield up all the time, locking onto targets, firing spells at range.

Today I made a barbarian and was playing it completely different, I binned the shield and just used a big 2 hander and also I didn't lock targets I just ran in and free swinged and rolled about, kept my equip rate less than half as mentioned to be nice and nimble was good fun :)

I finished the spider picked up what i needed out the room with all the webs in moved down to where the enemys were minning looked over edge seen there was red it said drop here .:(

And guess what i did i thought there is something at the bottom because as i was moving down there were other markings havent found my souls yet .

I have died more than once trying to recover them so i take it i cannot recover them and is there actually anything down this hole because when i hit the bottom and die i can see some sort of dragon-snake type thing .

Seems like i have wasted too much time on this game if it punishes you for exploring and trying to find out where your going without youtube or a guide book telling you specifically where to go and where to stand .
