I finished the spider picked up what i needed out the room with all the webs in moved down to where the enemys were minning looked over edge seen there was red it said drop here .:(

And guess what i did i thought there is something at the bottom because as i was moving down there were other markings havent found my souls yet .

I have died more than once trying to recover them so i take it i cannot recover them and is there actually anything down this hole because when i hit the bottom and die i can see some sort of dragon-snake type thing .

Seems like i have wasted too much time on this game if it punishes you for exploring and trying to find out where your going without youtube or a guide book telling you specifically where to go and where to stand .

It's technically a short cut to the end of the level but you have to know where to drop to get it to work because its extremely treacherous. Theres about 5 or 6 different ledges you have to drop from to get down there. I can't count the amount of times ive died getting to the bottom that way. It also takes the fun out of the entire level since theres a lot of interesting things in that level (the first time you attempt it) if you do it properly instead of dropping down those platforms.

Also the boss at the end of that level is my personal most hated and find it extremely difficult to beat in any circumstance. Personally if the boss for that level wasn't almost the most important one that needs to be killed for its soul id avoid it until the end.

The game dosen't punish you for exploring, it just punishes any lack of unawareness and sometimes it's not your fault that you fall down a hole or some pickaxe weilding thing hacks you from around the corner. The whole idea is perserverance and learning from your mistakes. Checking my stats the last completion i had 153 deaths in total, approximately 50 of those are deliberate for changing the world tendancy and just killing human form in nexus so i could use the eye stones to help/invade other people just for fun. Regardless over 100 deaths for a first playthrough i thought was quite few for this game...

When can you be invaded by other players, after 1-1 ?

You can get invaded at any time in human form but i didn't really see many until i hit level 80+ since thats where the majority are. You can invade anyone you like while in soul form and using the black eye stone (dropped from your first AI black phantom kill.)

At this point on the 2nd playthrough id reccomend getting the Banish spell so when you dont want to be interrupted by pesky invasions just cast that on them and they get sent home minus 1 soul level.

Stella, always use the archstone to go back to the nexus after beating a boss and spend your souls on levelling if you can. If you find yourself a little short of the next level use soldiers / heros souls that you should be picking up as you go along to top you up, don't spend them during the level, they are a nice safe way to carry souls around. It should go without saying but don't use boss demons souls for this of course !

If he upsets you that much there is a dirty trick for defeating him (I would like to point out that I didn't use it first time through but did try it out in NG+ and it does indeed work)

Nah Flamelurker is easy, soul arrow & roll and he won't hit u once :)

The Maneater on the otherhand......

Finished my first playthrough today, and I have to say it was nowhere near as hard as some people have made out. There are a few difficult bosses, but none took me more than 3-4 attempts and there are even fewer enemies that gave me real trouble (only really the Red Eye Knights and Black Skeletons). As long as you're careful and remeber to block then most enemes can be killed easily. Even most Black Phantoms went down without too much trouble.

Despite that, I still think it's a truly exceptional game, certainly up there for GOTY. Looking forward to a more challenging 2nd playthrough now :)

Nope they are all easy except flamelurker for me, though he was the first i killed in NG+ other than the ones needed to get to him.

Couldn't agree more. Saying that, I am most of the way through NG+ and it's a whole different story for my once mighty soldier... Maneater, for example would literally have been impossible for less than 3, and 1-3 was also very tricky.

How's the lag in this came since you're all using the American version? I just ordered it and i'm curious.
If you're worried about the online speed (which is fine as far as I can see, no lag here at all) then you can always sign out of the PSN and start Demon's Souls in Offline Mode. No need to worry about it then :)

Mmmm seem to be struggling with the first place. Done the training but thought I had failed it as that Boss arsed on me really annoyed me that I didnt last more than two hits with that guy.

Think I just have to take my time working my way through the palace and take it easy on the knights...
