It's an interesting design however the stripes are a bit of a non event. Is there anyway you can use that strippy area and include part of the union jack and maybe some reflection tint a la iphone icons stylee to make it slick.

edit: looking back at the logo, try filling in the 3 red stripes as one stripe and include a bit of the vertical white/red line from the union jack. So a crop of the top left quarter of the union jack in a way you see fit. I think it will be spot on then:)

I don't think that is a good logo. It looks pretty. What the logo reads (OcUK) is obvious to you, me or everyone here, but it is not immediately obvious to someone who has never heard of OcUK before. The way the logo is laid out causes the naive viewer to consider it backwards, too - they'll see "uk", then a big C, then if they figure it out, may manage to decipher the preceding O. That is, if they don't lose attention.

It isn't a logo to be used in isolation. The way around this would be to take this logo and only ever intend to use it with a typographical aid (Overclockers UK) written under it, for example. However, if you went down this route, it would be hard to justify the visual complexity of the iconic part of the logo (the bit you've done) in the first place.

Having said that, it is the best effort so far.

The only problem with just having lettering is that it doesn't really tell you what the site is about. These OCuk logo's look great, clean and crisp, but they do sort of look like racing car stickers.

I have no suggestions on how to make them look more computery though

SVG? Sounds ambitious - I doubt we'll see many entries that actually fit the specs until later next week.

Basically this is a free GTX285 to one of the few professional graphics designers on the board, since this effectively puts any casual photoshop user out of the contest - illustrator professionals only.

Is there no way this can be reduced to perhaps a high-resolution PSD outputted to PDF - you'll get a lot more entries. How big do you want to print this logo, anyway? Unless you're intending to project it onto the side of buckingham palace (note: good marketing there) then I can't see the major need for SVG.

Just my 2c
