Can we have an "entries" thread so we dont have to trawl through lots of pointless text to view one logo a page, would be useful for the judges aswell.
I agree - this thread will soon be full of pages

EDIT: Just had an awesome idea - they could add a new forum temporarily - where people can start a thread (One post) and post all their entries in there.

Just a thought... :p

4 - By submitting a New Logo to us the competition participant agrees that the Copyright of the submitted logo belongs exclusively to Overclockers UK (Esnet Ltd) and agrees that Overclockers UK (Esnet Ltd) has the exclusive right to use, modify and/or reproduce in any way it sees fit.

dont want to douse OCUK's campfire (or be banned in anyway :D), someone correct me if worng, but this may need rewording because ownership of copyright always rests with the author unless author is employee, as per CDPA 1988, s11(1). the term could read (and correct me if wrong again) along the lines of "the author by licence agress for OCUK to use... etc"

OCUK could have equitable title only if we, the forum users, were paid, dont know if prize fund could mean a form of payment?

anyhow, am was just bored and thought peeps and ocuk should be aware of boring copyright legislation.

taintedlove waits for ownage from forum users for silly comment...

Legal stuff
I'd recommend that point gets run by a Lawyer because it does have the potential to come bite OcUK in the future, but as I see it, the condition can be interpreted as a requirement for transfer of ownership of the IP (Intellectual Property) - i.e. the net effect will be that the winner surrenders ownership of the original logo to OcUK who then own the logo, can copyright and presumably trademark it, and can then do as they see fit. This may well have to be done in writing to stand up in a court of law.

First design from myself thought ID get the rough idea in quickly. Needs more work though.

Thought it would be nice embroidered on t shirts etc, possibly needs thicker text.

A bit of development,

Cross-posting from the other thread:

Just a quick legal note
4 - By submitting a New Logo to us the competition participant agrees that the Copyright of the submitted logo belongs exclusively to Overclockers UK (Esnet Ltd) and agrees that Overclockers UK (Esnet Ltd) has the exclusive right to use, modify and/or reproduce in any way it sees fit.
should read
4 - By submitting a logo to us the competition participant hereby assigns any and all trade marks, service marks, registered designs, copyrights, design rights and any other intellectual property contained within the submitted logo to Overclockers UK (Esnet Ltd). Entrant hereby warrants that any submitted logo is free of any license to third parties and does not infringe third party intellectual property rights.
Otherwise I could register the design/trademark and then submit it! Equally, you want an assignment of IP rather than a license to it ('belongs' could read as an exclusive license), otherwise you'd struggle to defend your IP rights in the future.

By the way, this is a free suggestion that I in no way endorse. If you want my professional opinion as a contracts lawyer I am perfectly happy to give it at an extremely respectable price - contact me through trust. The above is just gibbering nonsense to which I provide no warranty nor suggest you use - it is useless clap trap, you cannot sue me, I told you not to use it :D

The terms as they stand very much do not do this. I can understand why spie would want to do this, but that is not what the terms state at this moment.
