more to follow soon...

Sorry, I meant make it without the angle.

I cannot submit any of my own as i have no skills whatsoever, but i will share an opinion

I think you should lose the uk from the OCUK and the logo should focus on an highly recognisable image rather than a word, sure people would find it odd to start with, but it would soon as recognisable as anything we currently have.

It might seem like a leap too far, but now is a chance to do something different.

I think there are some very valid reasons for this that i try to explain

1) I dont know Spie's ultimate plans for Overclockers, but maybe one day he might want to expand to other geographies. Having a logo and tag intertwined with the UJ and "UK" really hinders your ability to do this. (Even if you dont want to, why put a barrier in place should you change your mind)

2) One way to increase a companies value, is to make a target for acquisition. A global company might look at Overclockers and think we could take that global and offer Spie a huge amount of money!! Again this would be seriously impacted by a brand and tag that encompasses a UJ and a UK (I'm thinking like HP/Alienware for example)

3) I cannot think of any big brand that talks about a geography in their logo/brand or tagline, could you imagine Apple being Apple US or Vodafone being Vodafone UK. Just becasue OC(uk) may not be as big, doesnt mean they shouldnt follow the same example.

I may get criticised for this, but the natural reaction to change is always to think "bad idea" but sometimes bold moves are needed and sometimes for the best if given a chance.

None of this by the way stops you from including the red white and blue and knowing yourself the meaning and the community would also learn the meaning of it, and i dont have a problem with that

Having said all of that my current favourite is Kenai's so what do i know!

It wasn't that so much as some of the entries do look remarkably similar to the BNPs logo.

It was never a case of 'Union Flag = BNP' but there is the issue that just dropping it inside the letters of OcUK in the same way as the BNP do might create unwelcome connections. As it stands now is fine, as it looks quite different.

I think you've completely misinterpreted the point being made (well, at least the point I made) in your haste to decry 'the PC brigade'.

The BNP's logo looks like somebody with my Paint skills made it, OC/UK's current one does not.

One oozes quality, the other biggotry I'm sure you know which.

I give up, you're still missing my point, I suspect deliberately.

Oh and i'm sorry but if one thing about OcUKs business doesn't 'ooze quality' it's the logo.

Your last one and the 'british connection' are good, though I would lose the british connection line. Reflections can look a little tacky but your flat one seems a bit, well, flat without it :p

Just noticed a couple of things - why can't I see an XFX 285 on the OC/UK site? And why is the prize not the 295 (XFX GeForce GTX 295 1792MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-295N-HHFF) ) which I can see on the site.:D - One in stock, theres the prize Spie! :D

Note as I have no chance of winning as I have not entered, I'm not trying to improve any prize! :D

Just got in from being at a BBQ all day, I'm drunk and stumbled across this thread. Here's my bad attempt for tonight, I just thought simplicity!

Will hopefully improve it tomorrow! If I remember! :o

Spie has already upped the prize once, ive forgotten what it was initially.

I have a tip for everyone here.

Simple is better.

You obviously missed my entry. :)

I think good entries should include OcUK and the address of the website (for a web based business this is crucial). I agree with the points made that having the union jack is not necessarily the best idea. No gradients/3d/photoshop filter effects (you know who you are!). I also tend to think that the logo should have a strong 'silhouette' and be recognisable from it.
